Day 1: L's Invitation
“Good evening gentlemen. Thank you for meeting me here.”
Light stood in the circle formed by the ten people in the room, nine of them focused on L’s opening words.
“In this room, I have gathered ten of the greatest minds in Japan.”
“Why?” Light asked, even though he already knew the answer.
“As you are all no doubt aware, Kira has increased the rate of killings in the past 6 months.”
Light had increased his killings for several reasons.
Experimentation.
Boredom.
To change the world.
Yes. The primary purpose of Light’s conquest. To become the God of the new world. The new world without the detriments that plague this society. Light had already killed plenty of infamous leeches in the short amount of time that he had access to the world’s most powerful tool. Throughout the Death Note, several names were scattered, along with their means of death.
All of the deaths Light had been responsible for.
All of them justified.
And Light wouldn’t stop until he had created the perfect world.
“Light.”
“Huh?”
Light had drifted off during L’s speech. Something he couldn’t afford to do around these people, on the chance that his slip-ups would reveal his identity.
Kira.
“Oh, sorry L. It’s just that talk about the deaths caused by Kira make me a little worried.”
“As we all should be. Which is why I’ve taken the liberty of creating pseudonyms for each of us. Please take this sheet and choose an alias. I’ve already marked my preference.”
L passed the sheet along, with everyone marking their preferences one by one. As the sheet reached Light, he read through the list of names:

Missing Person

Vynce
Light marked his preference and passed the sheet on.
“Excellent. From now on, in order to prevent Kira from targeting us, we shall be known by these names.”
L paused and waited for someone to ask the question.
“And why would Kira be targeting us?”
“I would like the 8 of you to join Near and I to form the Kira Investigation Team. Each day, we will choose a person to arrest and investigate. We will continue until we find Kira. Do you all accept?”
One by one, the members of the group accepted L’s invitation.
“There’s another reason you chose us, isn’t there, L?” Light interrupted.
L took another forkful of cake before continuing.
“I believe there’s an 87% chance that at least one of the eight of you is Kira.”
The shock of the sentence was interrupted by a scream. One by one, the others turned to Ryuk and started screaming. Light joined in, realising what L had done.
“As you are all now aware, there is a Shinigami in our presence. The page I passed around before was taken out of the Death Note, so hopefully that puts comfort in your minds that these nicknames are completely safe. Care to introduce yourself, Shinigami?”
Ryuk stared at L, then started laughing.
‘Interesting.’ Ryuk paused. ‘I want a nickname too.’
“I’m afraid the only nickname I have left is saved for the greatest, smartest, best looking person in the universe.”
‘Well that fits me perfectly.’
“I agree. Everyone, meet AlphaCommando.”
Ryuk took a bow, then continued to talk to L.
‘I don’t like your method of finding Kira.’
“What would you suggest?”
‘The person who you decide is most likely to be Kira at the end of each day will be killed by my Death Note. Everybody killed by Death Note will be sent to the Shinigami Realm.’
A stunned silence filled the room.
“I accept your terms.”
Before anybody could object, Ryuk burst out laughing.
‘You humans really are interesting.’
Votes are due at the following times:
Wednesday, 12am AEST
Tuesday, 10pm ChST
Tuesday, 10am EDT
Tuesday, 9am CeDT
Tuesday, 7am PDT
Official Game Rules:
-There are 10 players with 1 starting Mafia, 1 Detective and 1 Medic.
-Roles:
-Light Yagami: Mafia
-Misa Amane: Day 1 Mafia Recruit
-Teru Mikami: Night Mafia Recruit
-L: Detective
-Near: Medic
-All day lynches and unlynches must be bolded and/or underlined in order to be counted (i.e. Lynch: Ben Perkins).
-All night phase abilities must be PM’d to me before the write-up of each night.
-Unlynching and changing votes is allowed.
-Self-lynch votes are allowed.
-No lynch votes are allowed.
-Mafia are allowed to target themselves for the night kill.
-Once killed, civilians have 12 hours to submit their Last Gasp. After submitting the Last Gasp or after 12 hours have elapsed, the player will be
added to the Loser’s/Spectator’s Lounge, known as the Shinigami Realm.
-If you are roleless, you can request to be a specific character in the write-up, provided it’s not the identity of one of the five roles. All requests must be PM’d to me before your death write-up and the character chosen does not have to be from the Death Note series (Vynce ;D).
-No PM’s are to be sent between players unless both members are Mafia.
-No messages are allowed to be sent after the write-up has revealed your death.
-No editing of messages is allowed.
-All votes must be submitted before the write-up in order to count. There will be no penalty (no disqualifications/bans) for missing consecutive votes.
-Basically, no loopholes and don’t do the normally banned shit. :P
-During each night phase, L can choose one player to be investigated. If L chooses the player with the role of Light, Misa or Teru, L will receive a result of ‘Guilty’, otherwise it will return ‘Innocent’.
-During each night phase, Near can choose one player to receive protection from the night kill.
-If Near protects L or L’s investigation target, L will receive a result of ‘Inconclusive’ for their investigation.
-Light can prevent one player from receiving a last gasp (or two if he chooses to use the spare Death Note, see below). The prevention must be PM’d to me before the write-up of the respective day/night phase.
-Light starts the game with a spare Death Note. The Death Note can be used for the following purposes:
-The Death Note can be exchanged at the start of the game for an extra Mafia member (Misa Amane). Light can choose which player will take the role of Misa and Misa will be informed of their identity at the start of the game.
-The Death Note can be exchanged during any night phase for an extra Mafia member (Teru Mikami). Light can choose which player will take the role of Teru, but if Light chooses a player with the role of L or Near, Light’s identity will be PM’d to the player.
- The Death Note can be exchanged during any day or night phase to prevent an extra last gasp of the player that dies during that phase. The Death Note must be exchanged before the write-up in order to take effect.
-Light (or Misa/Teru if Light dies), L and Near can all change their night targets up until the write-up point.
-If Light chooses a second Mafia member, Light is responsible for submitting the night action. Misa/Teru can not submit the night action unless Light is dead.
