Good partners for Dormammu?

$

Right now my main team is Wesker, Dorm, Trish. I use Wesker to build meter for now until I find someone else I'm good with. Basically once I build some meter I bring out Dorm and use his df+H to lay fire down and Trish's Peekabo Trap to cover my head. From here I am free to use Dark Portals and his other moves until I get a hit confirm into Chaotic Flame. The only thing that can really get in is some projectiles and Hypers so far or if I get caught in the middle of setting up.

What are some other good assists that leave Dorm open to spam the screen with all his "magical" stuff? Doom's rocket assist? Hsien's reflect projectile?

3v3 Battle in Ultra Street Fighter IV - Possibilities?

The announcement that the game would allow for 3v3, KoF style team matches was very exciting to hear. If I rememer correctly it was stated that each character would have to be controlled by a player, and it would go down online.

My question for you guys are the following:

- IS there any evidence to support that the game will allow 3v3 between two players only, exactly like KoF?

- How will this affect tournaments?

and just out of curiosity

- What 3v3 team is perfect for you?

The reason I ask is because if 3v3 between two people is allowed I'm fairly confident that it will become the norm and will attract a LOT of players. It basically adds a lot of variety to the game while making previously non-viable characters useful as part of a team. You can play your Gief all the way to the title if you have a Sagat counter in your team, for instance.

In fact, I foresee USFIV tournaments having parallel competitions for single and team battles, and Im preeeeeeeeetty sure that the team battles will be more hype than the single ones, simply because as it stands, matchups are quite predictable.

This piece of news got me tremendously excited and if you're anything like me, you might have been having fun wondering what teams you'd like to build.

If Capcom makes it strictly an on-line affair, I wouldn't be surprised as lack of foresight and overall idiocy are a hallmark of their company.

Ah, and just to get the ball rolling, I'm looking at Dan/Vega/Guy and/or Dan/Dee Jay/ Vega :)

Eat. Sleep. Code: The Computer Programming Thread, Ver. 010

It looks like my old thread disappeared, so here's a new one for all the coders out there. Use this thread for anything relating to programming, especially if you're looking for help. Speaking of which...

I'm in the middle of tweaking a game I made for Windows 7 phones using XNA, and I'm trying to make the controls more precise. In my game, I move a ball around by sliding the cursor (I'm using the phone emulator). Currently, there are a few problems:
  1. The ball moves a bit too much when I make even slight movements
  2. If I slide in a direction when the cursor is not on the ball, the ball will move in that direction. The ball should move only when the cursor is on the ball.
I think I can figure out #2 fairly quickly as there's a way to get the position of where the user touched the screen. #1 is a bit more troublesome. I do have a variable to adjust the slide distance before any movement is registered, but I don't think that's enough. I'll try increasing the slide distance further and see where that goes. Here's the code I'm using:
Spoiler:
protected override void SetupInputs() //TODO: make controls good!
        {
            float slideDistance = 20.0f;

            //Code for sliding to the left
            input.AddTouchSlideInput(ActionMoveLeft, Input.Direction.Left, slideDistance);
            //input.AddTouchGestureInput(ActionMoveRight, GestureType.Tap, ScreenRightHalf);

            //Code for sliding to the right
            input.AddTouchSlideInput(ActionMoveRight, Input.Direction.Right, slideDistance);
            //input.AddTouchGestureInput(ActionMoveLeft, GestureType.Tap, ScreenLeftHalf);

            //Code for sliding up
            input.AddTouchSlideInput(ActionMoveUp, Input.Direction.Up, slideDistance);

            //Code for sliding down
            input.AddTouchSlideInput(ActionMoveDown, Input.Direction.Down, slideDistance);

            //Code for restarting level
            input.AddTouchGestureInput(ActionRestart, GestureType.Tap, restartButton.TouchArea);

Wallbase. Largest collection of the slickest, coolest wallpapers on the internet, imo. These are great for computers, laptops, and of course, your PS3.

HDD Expansion
Ran out of space on the stock hard drive in your PS3? Want to upgrade? Western Digital is the highest quality HDD brand you can get for your PS3, imo. As of now, they don't have a 1TB HDD of the PS3's 2.5" HDD size, so 750GB is the highest you can get now, which should already be more than enough.

While WD is my brand of choice, any 2.5" SATA HDD is compatible with the PS3. Even Solid State Drives (SSDs) and Hybrid Drives are compatible with the PS3, and Drives of any cache size and RPMs are compatible with the PS3, so there are a lot of choices out there. People have claimed to experience notable gains/advantages with Drives with higher RPMs, as well as using SSDs over HDDs, so you may want to keep that info in mind.

Do note, however, that a lot of people have had problems with the Seagate brand of HDDs. Buy at your own risk.

Side Note: Newegg is an amazing website for ordering these things. I don't think they charge shipping for these HDDs (they didn't charge me shipping), and they were FAST. My credit card info was authorized and the 750GB HDD I ordered was at my house a day and a half later. So yeah, I give Newegg my highest recommendations. For those of you late bloomers looking to jump into the HD age, they've also got great HDTVs at great prices, so check them out!

How do you replace your old HDD with the new one you bought?

First off, you will need a regular Phillips Screwdriver to do this.

MAINTENANCE
Want your Triple to last long? Up your maintenance game.
Spoiler:
Intercoolers
If you feel that your PS3 is usually stationed in an environment with inadequate temperature (Read: Hot and muggy as fuck), you may want to look into and invest in an Intercooler to keep it nice and cool. Also, remember that setting your PS3 vertically is better than horizontally if you're looking to keep it well-ventilated.
Spoiler:
Cleaning the PS3
Cleaning your PS3 is very simple.

For the outside of your PS3, rub dust/fingerprints/whatever off with micro-fiber cloth.

For the inside of your PS3, use a vacuum cleaner's hose to suck dust from the vents. Don't forget to open the PS3's HDD plating and vacuum there as well. Every once in a while, it will be necessary to completely remove the HDD and vacuum out it's housing area. You can also blow the dust through the vents using compressed air. I find cleaning most effective when the compressed air is used first, then the vacuum to suck out any remaining dust. Clean your PS3 out at least once a month.

DO NOT. I repeat, DO NOT attempt the PS3's hidden feature, the Fan Test. This hidden feature has been known to damage PS3s and shorten their lifespans. You have been warned.
Spoiler:
Repairs
Gophermods, LLC. This company is excellent for console repairs, among other things. Not to mention they're cheaper than other repair stores, including official Sony repair stations. They repair your console and return it to you in record time, and their work leaves little, if nothing else to be desired. Very professional group.

MEDIA SERVERS

Media Servers are great for boosting your PS3's capabilities as a media center powerhouse. Below is a list of good media server programs you can install on your computer or laptop to use for streaming media to your PS3.

GAMES
Last, but not least, the recommended games list. The list includes both exclusive and multiplatform games (Exclusives are marked with EXCLUSIVE tags. semi-EXCLUSIVE means that there is also a version of the game either on some phone device or PC). Let me know if I'm missing some games. Especially in the 'Games on the Horizon' section. I'm not bothering with Move, EyeToy, or Mini games.

AE v.2013 E. Honda requests

$

0
Hi guys,

As you probablly heard, there are some rummors about another version - nothing concrete, but who knows.
I don't know if another patch comes, or if Capcom listens to us, but still, I think we should try this - who knows, maybe we get something. At worst, we will have something to talk about.
I will post my ideas, I'm looking for more thoughts, ideas from more experienced honda players.

Ok, first, my idea is to buff everybody bar the top - normally some characters should get some nerfs - Viper, Seth, Akuma, Cammy, Rufus. But I think is better to leave them as they are, but buff everybody else - so keep this in mind.
I want to make Honda stronger and more interesting to play.

So, what do you think ? Would you like these changes ? Preffer others ? Honda would be broken ? Thoughts ? Ideas ? Let's hear it.
After more people give their thoughts, I will post the changes in AE change request thread (I intend to compile a list for every char :razzy:)

The updated AE v.2013 Change Requests for E. Honda:

- far st HP: +20 dmg (100) from the 4th frame

- Shikofumi: - reduce the start up by 6 frames (24); change cancelable frames to 10-24f

- Hp. Hands: add +14 dmg (= 119) and +3 blockstun (= +6), and restore chip dmg from 4 per hit to 5 per hit

- Oichos: - add +10 dmg for normal versions (= 170-180-190) and make all versions not cross up on hit (not switch sides)

- Ex Oicho: increase the range from 1.52 to 1.70 OR add +5 strike invincible frames and reduce the range to 1.20

- far st HK: add +3 hitstun (= 0) and +1 blockstun (= -6)

- Ultra 1: increase the traveling speed after the animation

- cr HK: reduce the start up by 3 frames (= 11) and increase active frames by 1 (= 3)

- jump fw MP: increase the hitbox (restore it the way it was in Super)

Detailed Explanations:
Spoiler:
Honda was never broken in Super, so the amount of nerfs he got was uneeded. From Super to AE he lost 205 dmg, and from AE to v.2012 another 30 dmg = 235 dmg loss, same as Yun from AE to v.2012 – except Honda wasn’t anywhere close to AE Yun’s level. He also got other nerfs, Ultra 2 was destroyed, hitbox nerf for jump, blockstun reduction for hands, etc. He also didn’t receive any significant buffs since vanilla. For a character that was never considered broken and never won a major, these nerfs were too much.

I think it would be fair to undo part of the nerfs he received:

- Far HP: +20 dmg (100) from the 4th frame:

Give back half the dmg for HP: 100 dmg (it was 120 in Super, 140 in vanilla !!). I can understand Capcom not wanting Honda to have a 120 dmg poke, but making it have less dmg than MP is odd, esp. for a poke that has 10 frames start up. (right now MP does 90 dmg, and HP 80 from the 4th frame).

Honda is supposed to have big dmg, that’s his character archetype, it always has been. He has no reliable comeback factor, and a terrible oki game, so landing big dmg is the way he wins.

Some characters like Akuma or Seth that have many tools at their disposal can afford to have some useless ones. But Honda doesn’t have many tools, so he can’t afford to have useless stuff:

- Shikofumi: reduce the start up by 6 frames (24); reduce the dmg by 20 (110)

Capcom decided to give him a unique attack, but right now this move is useless – 30 frames start up, obvious animation and it requires Honda to give up charge. Considering that Shikofumi is Honda’s only overhead, and that Honda’s mix up game is far from stellar, I think it would be correct to make this move more useful. Even at 24 frames start up, Shikofumi would still be one of the slowest overheads in the game, but at least it would be an option that Honda can use occasionally, spicing up his gameplan and making him more interesting to play. It’s also a cool move, it’s a waste not to be useful.

- H. Hands: +2 blockstun (+5):

give back a part of the blockstun he had in Super (it was +6). Hands are Honda’s main pressure tool. It needs to be advantaged enough so that holding up, backdashing or mashing a 3-4 frame normal won't defeat the second hhs. Honda has no true strings, no 3 fr normal, and his cr lk is 5 frames so I don't think this is a lot to ask. Honda needs this tool in order to maintain the pressure on his opponent, since he can't rely on kd pressure (few options for kd, Oichos don't allow for safe jumps).

- Oicho: - for all versions, in the corner, on hit, throw animation doesn't end with Honda having crossed over to the other side:

In Super Turbo, Ochio throw would swap positions except in a corner. In SF4, Honda is generally at his strongest when the opponent is cornered and he is crouched just outside. Not only is Honda at his strongest, but Ochio throw specifically is strongest at this point. It would be great if Honda could not corner himself and (more importantly) give his opponent the entirety of the playing field to back away and go back to keeping Honda out with fireballs, or whatever else. Honda doesn’t have a corner carry move, he is a defensive character, a charge character, so it’s not like he can easily put his opponent in the corner. But if he does it, he should be rewarded more. This buff would affect mostly Honda’s bad match ups – the matches where he needs to go on offensive, and less his good ones, where he usually just turtles. It would be a big help in matches like Ryu/Sagat/Guile, when Honda finally corners them, to be able to put more pressure on them. It would also be a nice throwback to ST days.

- Ex Oicho: increase the range from 1.52 to 1.65

Another useless move. 2 out of 4 ex special moves are useless right now for Honda (ex hands and oicho). While for every other character that has an ex command grab, this move has some special abilities that gives a reason to be used, in Honda’s case, ex Oicho doesn’t have anything – it has only 0.02 more range than L Oicho (completely irrelevant), 10 more dmg than H Oicho (no Honda will ever waste 1 bar for this) and 50 more stun (irrelevant, since Honda doesn't rely on stunning his opponent)

I think the best solution to make it useful would be to simply increase the range enough so it's worth spending a bar for. This way Honda would have a valuable tool for opening up opponents. Ex Oicho would still have far less range than Zangief's light spd (1.75) and Hakan's Ex Oil rocket (1.79) and costs 1 bar (meter is very important for honda). The move will be used for offensive purposes, so it will mostly affect Honda's bad matches.

- far st HK: reduce the recovery by 2 frames so blockstun becomes -5 and hitstun -1

This buff would be of great help in some of Honda's bad matches, namely Fei long, chun li and ryu. Right now Fei can punish a blocked far hk with ex REkkas, and Ryu and chun can even punish it on hit with Super. I think this is really unfair since Honda is barely able to use his best poke in his bad matches. Reducing the recovery and making blockstun/hitstun -5/-1 would remove this and would help Honda a lot in these matches where he struggles, while mostly leaving the rest of the match ups largely unaffected.

These buffs would make Honda closer to what he is supposed to be: a character with a strong defense, big dmg, and solid pressure once he's in, while also keeping his traditional weaknesses: a hard time against fireballs, really slow normals (and moves in general) and no easy way to get in (average walk speed, no fast move that puts him in front of the opponent, bad FA and dash). Honda would also be closer to his ST counterpart. With all these buffs, Honda wouldn't be broken, he wouldn't even be at Cammy/akuma level, but he would be a strong contender and much more fun to play.

How do you improve when there is no Fighting game scene where you live

So I live in North Yorkshire and Manchester as of now and from what I can see there is almost no scene for people to meet up and play casuals.

I get so jealous of Cali or New york and there amazing fighting game communities they have with tones of local tournaments everywhere. But if you want to compete in the UK you have to travel hundreds of miles to London or some shit.

The only person who plays fighting games is my best friend at home. So we just play endlessly against each other. We are both really bad too. I just want to play vs good people so I can learn from them.

Just wondered if you guys had any advice on this.

Am I destined to play play on-line warriors for the rest of my life?

Hope this is the right place for this thread...

Basically I've been without a console for a year or so, since my 360 up'd and died on me. I've pretty much been gaming casually on the PC since.

I'm looking at picking up something to play Street Fighter (IV and 3rd Strike Online) and was wondering if the best choice would be PS3 or 360? Pretty much looking for a debate on which console has the better online community for SF. NOT which is the superior system.

Cheers!

To mod any stick for Xbox One will be $140. This price includes parts, labor, and return shipping. It doesn't matter what system it was for or what brand it was. After I'm done with it you'll be able to use your stick on the Xbox One as well as any other systems your stick worked on already. There will be a physical switch installed that will switch between Xbox One and the other system(s). Xbox One triggers will work so all 8 buttons will be wired up.

To mod any stick for PS4 will be $140. This price includes parts, labor, and return shipping. It doesn't matter what system it was for or what brand it was. After I'm done with it you'll be able to use your stick on the PS4 as well as any other systems your stick worked on already. There will be a physical switch installed that will switch between PS4 and the other system(s). PS4 shoulder and triggers will work so all 8 buttons will be wired up.

To dual mod any stick for both Xbox One and PS4 will be $260. This price includes parts, labor, and return shipping. The original systems the stick had will use a detachable cable setup that connects to a neutrik jack that will be installed. New gen (ps4/xbox1) will use a attached cable with a physical switch to switch between the two.

To dual mod any stick for both old gen and new gen will be $340. This price includes parts, labor, and return shipping. Old gen (ps3/360) will use a detachable cable setup that connects to a neutrik jack that will be installed. New gen (ps4/xbox1) will use a attached cable with a physical switch to switch between the two.

All dual mods for ps3/360 for any arcade sticks will be $120. This price includes parts, labor, and return shipping. It doesn't matter what system it was for or what brand it was. After I'm done with it you'll be able to use your stick on PS3, Xbox 360, and pc with system auto-detection.

Multi-Console (with rj-45 jack) mods for any arcade stick will be $150. This price includes parts, labor, and return shipping. With this mod you'll be able to use your stick on even more systems on top of the PS3, Xbox 360, and pc. All with system auto-detection. Each system's cable will be detachable and a detachable usb cable will be included with the mod. Additional system cables are $10 each.

Dual mods for Madcatz Fightpad or Hori Fighting Commander 3 [pro] will be $110. This price includes parts, labor, and return shipping. The Madcatz Fightpad will have auto-detection, but the HFC3 will have system save mode.

Official Microsoft Xbox 360 pad conversion mod will be $110. This price includes parts, labor, and return shipping. The pad will work on the PS3 only, all face buttons, triggers, analog sticks, and L3/R3 will function. Holding Start+Select=Home.

What about shipping?
Return shipping cost is now included into the price of all mods. All return shipping will be sent via USPS Priority shipping which takes 2-3 days guaranteed.

How long does it take for the mod to be done?
At my fastest it can take 20minutes, but on average it takes me around an hour to do most mods. What this means is that once I receive the stick, I will finish the mod the same day and have it shipped back the next day via USPS Priority mail.

Can I do artwork?
If you have the artwork file and have custom plexi top for your stick, I can print out your artwork and place it on the stick. I can also do the cut outs for the buttons to place them inside the transparent buttons. Remember, you'll need to already have the custom plexi in order for me to do all this. If you don't already have it, go to arthong's site as he makes really good custom plexi's and can also do the artwork printing all at a great price.

If you want a dual mod done and have buttons or a joystick you also want swapped out, I can swap them out for you at no extra charge. Just include the extra buttons/joystick in with the stick.

Is there something else you need done to your stick but I didn't address it? Ask me, I probably can.

I accept paypal payments.

SRK Competitive Pokemon Battling Thread: Mood Wins Bious $100! (Rotation Tournament Start!)

Welcome to the place to be if you like animal fighting Pokémon battles! Here we'll battle to see who's the true PokeMaster and also converse about the competitive aspects of Pokemon.

You haven't battled (or even played a Pokémon game) in a while? Maybe not even since Red and Blue? No worries! With the introduction of the brand new Fairy type, Mega-Evolutions, Super Training, and many balance changes, this Gen is a nice place to start off fresh!

Types:
A Pokemon's typing dictates what it's weak against and also that moves it has STAB (Same Type Attribute Bonus) on. STAB basically means that a move that is the same type as the Pokemon using it will do greater damage than if was used by another Pokemon with a different type (A Charizard using Fire Blast will do more damage than a Snorlax using it due to Charizard having fire typing.)

Defensively, different types have different weaknesses to different moves. Our Charizard, for example, will take four times regular damage from any rock attack doe to both of its types (Fire and Flying) being weak to Rock-Type attacks.

Type Chart for Gen 6:
Spoiler:

Battling:

Pokémon Battling is a bit more complicated than just sending in your Charizard and hitting Blast Burn. There are a variety of moves, tactics, items, and mechanics you'll need to study up on in order to be the best. Before you get started on your team, take some time to learn about EV's.

Nice Guide by Saitsu:
Spoiler:
Alright, this will be a long and wordy post so bear with me because this will get confusing.

Effort Values:

To first explain Effort Values, I'll first explain a bit more on Pokemon Stats. As we've already covered, base stats form the basis and essence on the strength of a Pokemon. As some of you may have asked, what does this make the stats you see in game? Well they're what the base stats turn into after leveling and such. While Base Stats are how you compare Pokemon initially (for example, 125 Base Attack is always better than 115 Base Attack) the final stats are also very important as that will ultimately determine Pokemon strength.

Now the question becomes, can Pokemon with the same base stats have different end stats? The answer is yes. And that's where Effort Values (and Individual Values but that's later) come in. Also, in learning this you'll understand why Pokemon in essence become weaker when leveling up using Rare Candies.

When a Pokemon defeats an enemy Pokemon, you gain experience (this you know). However, you also gain something else. When you defeat certain Pokemon, you also gain a certain amount of points to one of your 6 stats. For example, defeating a Bulbasaur will grant you one point towards Special Attack. That point is an Effort Value. Four EVs (four points) towards one stat will equal one legitimate point in that stat. So say your Pokemon has an end stat of 300. If it gained four EVs towards HP, its end stat will now be 301.

So essentially, Effort Values are a way to customize your Pokemon to your preference. Though usually, EV's will be used to boost your best stats. Now, there are a few rules to keep in mind for EV's.

1. The maximum amount of EV's a Pokemon is allowed to gain is 510.
2. The Maximum Amount of EV's a Pokemon is allowed in one stat is 255.
3. As it's already been said, 4 EV's = 1 Stat Point.

So here's where we use a little math. If you haven't noticed, in the end if you divide 510 by 4, you're left with a remainder of 2 worthless EV's. Nothing can be done about that, sorry. Also, the maximum amount of EV's you can use for one stat in reality is 252. Going all the way to 255 would actually waste 3 EV's. So in the end, here's what will happen. You are allowed to max 2 stats, and add an extra Stat point to a third. Or you can spread them out.

Now, to use more math, a full 252 EV's in one stat will add up to 63 Stat Points in the end. So let's bring up that Health value again. If a Pokemon's end stat in HP is 300, if you max out the HP EV's, the end stat will now become 363. A very big increase. And now you see the importance.

And this is why Pokemon who use Rare Candies to level up become weaker. Because they're leveling up without as much battling experience and thus less Effort Values gained and thus weaker stats. Cultivating EV's is a painstaking task, only really accomplished by breeding Pokes and starting from Level 1 and on top of that, you can't visibly see the Evs. Until Gen 6 where now we'll have visible Evs and EV training.

As for what EV's mean for you? It's used again, to customize your pokemon. Usually, this will be done by maxing out your stats of preference and usually your best stats. Since Mienshao is the current topic, we'll use him. Mienshao's top two stats are Attack and Speed. Those are the stats you tend to want to increase in order to get maximum efficiency out of it to allow it to hit as hard as possible and move as quickly as possible. As for what to do with the last 4 EV's that aren't used on Attack and Speed? Up to you. I'd say Special Attack if you want coverage or Special Defense if you want to focus on Hi-Jump Kick and U-Turn but we'll get to that later. But this is how Mienshao's with those EV's are written.

252 Atk/4 SpD/252 Spe

It goes in order of where the stats are (HP/Atk/Def/SpA/SpD/Spe). The numbers show the amount of EV's used. And thus Mienshao will get a 63 point boost to Attack and Speed and a 1 Point boost to Special Defense. That should be a good run down on Effort Values.

Individual Values:

Alright, IV's are a lot more annoying to explain, and yet aren't nearly as important (or manageable) as IV's unless you want to use Hidden Power. But let's get this over with.

Individual Values have an easier explanation and summation than EV's. In essence, they are genes. Like the genes for humans change different things like Eye Color and skin pigmentation, the Genes or IV's of Pokemon change...well, stats as well and can also increase them like Effort Values.

UNLIKE Effort Values however...you cannot really change them directly. Like Genes, IV's are given to a Pokemon when they are born and due to that...are the most absolutely frustrating thing to manage in this game, especially due to the fact that like EV's, until Gen 6 there's no visible way to truly manage it. The best you can do is in Gen 5 where there's an NPC that will give you a rough estimate on how you're doing. But let's explain in a bit more detail without hopefully destroying your brain.

Each stat (except HP) has an IV rating from 0-31 and each Pokemon when born can range anywhere in that number. A Pokemon that's said to have Perfect IV's have 31s in each stat. In short, you want to get each IV as close to 31 as you can get as it will increase the stat the higher the number is (I don't know the exact formula and it isn't as important). As it was said by other people, unless you're using Battle Simulators (until Gen 6), it's not worth the hassle to try and breed for Perfect IV's as it will take forever and is a crapshoot. The best you can do is try and breed to max out your Speed IV (again the Gen 5 NPC will help you check). However...this changes when we come to Hidden Power.

Hidden Power is a Special Attack type move that is always 60 BP but varies in Typing. The IV's of your Pokemon determine the typing. Why is this important? Because some pokemon, Mienshao potentially included, can use the Type Coverage Hidden Power brings to cover weakness. For example, I'll use one of my personal favorite Pokemon, Lucario.

I prefer to use a Special Attack based Lucario (the Physical Attack Lucario has no such issues). Now Lucario is a Fighting/Steel Type Pokemon, so Flying and Ground type Pokemon are an issue. The usual set run for Lucario, at least his first 3 moves, are Nasty Plot (to boost SpA for sweeping), Aura Sphere (90 Base Power, never miss Fighting Special Move) and Dark Pulse (80 BP, Dark Special). As you can see, no coverage for the two weaknesses I mentioned. And if you go to look up Lucario's movepool, he does not learn an Ice Special Attack at all (Phyical Lucario has Ice Punch). That's where Hidden Power comes in. You can make Hidden Power an Ice Type Move thus granting Lucario that crucial coverage needed to take down those Ground and Flying type threats (along with Dragons).

But again, it's best to not go too deep into how to legitimately generate IV's as it's extremely frustrating. Battle Simulators will allow you to play with the IV's set to your preferences (and thus Hidden Power) and hopefully, Gen 6 will remedy the situation as promised. But at most, do try to breed Pokemon with Perfect IV's in Speed so all your Pokemon will be at max Speed which is always good (with one or two exceptions due to how certain moves work).

Natures:

I had almost forgotten to add this but this is also very important, but thankfully for all involved, a LOT easier to explain than the above two with also much less math (I don't mind math, but I'm a math major and I know everyone else aren't fans).

Ever wonder what those things called Natures are? You know, those one word descriptions in game? Bold, Bashful, Quiet, etc? They actually mean a lot more than you think.

Natures are the last thing that determine Pokemon End Stats (except for HP). Again, a lot easier to explain. There are 25 Natures. Each Nature gives One stat a 10% Increase and gives another Stat a 10% decrease. There are also 5 Natures that don't change a thing (technically they increase and decrease the same stat, thus averaging out to nothing). They also determine what flavors a Pokemon likes and dislikes, but that's more towards single player stuff.

Anyway, the usage of Natures are to boost the stat you absolutely want to center your Pokemon around the most. For Mienshao, that can be Attack or Speed. But you also have to make a sacrifice in another category, usually one of your worst or the one you're not using at all. For Mienshao, if you're not using any Special Attacks, then you can take away from that stat as you're not using it. For a Mienshao that specializes in Speed but takes away from Special Attack, the Nature you want is Jolly.

Now Natures are also decided by Breeding but are manageable and of course, visible so a lot easier to have done. That you can research later, it's pretty simple. So this is how the Mienshao can look so far.

Mienshao, M(ale)

And...I'm done...please check for anything off.

Sounds complicated? Don't worry! X and Y introduced Super Training, which is a nice alternative to constantly battling to train a Pokémon!

Mega-Evolution:
Mega Evolutions were introduced in XY as a new way to battle. In return for giving up your item slot and making your Pokemon hold the appropriate Mega-Stone, you can evolve your Pokemon mid-battle into a stronger form that grants drastically improved stats and (sometimes) type and ability changes!

Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

Don't know who made the first thread, but I'm making the second. Post your opinions about games that you're sure others will find unpopular. I'll begin:

- Metal Slug 3 is a PIECE OF SHIT. It's like Sonic CD: super-freaking-bad, yet everyone loves it for some reason. It has multiple paths. WHOOPDEE FREAKIN' DOO. I can fall asleep playing this bore-fest. It's tedious, and started the "let's make the series Battletoads-cheap" trend that 4 and 5 continued. 3 is better than 4 or 5, but that's it.

- Metal Slug 6 is WAAAAAY better than the rest of the series. That's right. You heard me. Unique character properties, good pacing in the levels, good bosses, all around fun. Way better than shitty, shitty 3. And a little better than 2 or X. Plus, it's the only game in the Anthology that doesn't lag so bad it's nearly unplayable. Though it still lags a little.

- Yes, the Anthology lags, at least on PS2. If you aren't noticing it, TRY LOOKING HARDER because it's there.

- Sonic CD sucks. I say this like once every three months. But it's true. It's the second-worst Sonic game ever made, right behind Sonic 360/PS3. Sonic Team can suck my balls. If I ever get the money I'm buying Sonic. As in the rights to the characters and games. So I can make one that doesn't fucking suck.

- To paraphrase Viscant: Sonic 2 had it right. We've been going in the wrong direction ever since. Add this: Sonic 2 wasn't made entirely by Sonic Team. That should tell you something right there.

- Final Fantasy 7 was overrated, as was 12.

- Square-Enix is shit.

- Vyse is the best main character in an RPG ever. Ever. Cloud doesn't even come close.

- A fun and competitive 3D Street Fighter is possible. Just because all current attempts have sucked doesn't mean they should stop trying.

- No, people aren't saying your favorite game is a piece of shit just because they suck at it. Chances are if 95% of the world says it is a piece of shit, it's because it's a piece of shit. This is directed to you Sonic fanboys out there.

- Kirby Superstar was the SNES's best game. Yes, I've played Super Metroid, Yoshi's Island, Illusion of Gaia, and (in all likelihood) any other game you care to mention.

- Doom wasn't a corridor shooter. It was an arcade action twitch game that spawned corridor shooters. Doom plays nothing like what it preceded. That's why people still play it and make levels for it.

- Metroid Prime isn't a corridor shooter. It's an exploration-RPG game that just so happens to put you in a first-person perspective, using guns, in corridor-heavy environments.

- The Wiimote sucks. Except for WarioWare. Actually the Wii sucks in general. And I love every other Nintendo system I own.

- Ocarina of Time wasn't as good as Wind Waker. Yeah, I said it. Wind Waker's only blemish was the Triforce hunt.

- No game, past or present, has as cool a final boss battle as Wind Waker. Gears of War kinda-sorta comes close.

- Gears of War is 20 times better than any shitty Japanese game you care to mention.

- Shmups are, at their basest level, about memorization. I hope that shmups become more random and promote more reactivity instead of Dance Dance Revolution twitch. Geometry Wars is a move in the right direction. So was the meteor level in Gradius V.

- Astroboy is the best GBA title you've never played. It's by Treasure and is very Gunstar Super Heroes-ish. Find this game NOW.

- Double Dragon Advance is the second best GBA title you've never played. Give it five minutes and tell me it wasn't worth every penny, I dare you.

- Metal Gear sucks. I just care for the story. On the inverse, Snake is awesome and makes Smash Bros. more awesome just by being in it.

- The American Zelda cartoon was FUCKING GREAT regardless of what otaku Japanophiles believe. Cocky ass mercenary Link > never talks game Link.

- Captain N... was mostly shit. :rofl: But the good episodes were stellar. And yes, the same Link appears here, and other than some initial whining, he's as cool as ever.

- Pichu w/ goggles better be in Brawl.

- See that dude in my AV? That's Rei, the coolest Capcom character ever made. He got the shaft in the game he was in... so he better be the star of MvC3 :rofl: (Insert El Salvador reference here)

- Symphony of the Night was not the best Castlevania game.

- Super Castlevania 4 was better than SotN. /braces for impact

- Megaman X8 is the best X game. Ignore Gigavolt Man-o-War's stage, though. The rest of the game is pure sex.

SRK threads for Indy are dead. Can someone link me to active threads on this/other forums or active facebook groups where I can get timely information on local meet-ups and tournies for Indiana?
