WTS: Multi-console modded custom joysticks & custom metal panels (in Montreal)

As sad as it is, I need to unload all the stuff that I no longer use and put the money towards other parts of the hobby.
I've loved all these sticks, but I think it's time they go to newer homes that'll cherish them.

All items will be shipped from Montreal, and shipping is not included.
I'll say this ahead of time: Canada Post's rates for out-of-Canada shipments is retardedly high. I don't want to discourage US or international buyers, but just a heads up that Canada Post can be quite retarded. Shipping an EMPTY Mad Catz TE (ie, no JLF nor buttons) with its original box was running about $35 in shipping costs to the US.
As such, it'd be much more economical for everyone for me to sell these to fellow Canadians, especially fellow Montrealers.

My standard (custom) layout is a "straight-Vewlix"; basically square off the top and bottom rows of the standard Vewlix. You end up with something very close to Astro P2 with the higher pinky button positions. In fact, you end up with what's detailed at Slagcoin as a "mix between standard Astro P1 and P2 layouts" (http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/layout/hybrid36_m.png)
I generally use the Straight-6 portion, and I firmly believe that the L buttons should be the left (with the R buttons on the right), so the button layout is as follows:
button_layout.png

Here are the complete joysticks that I have up for sale.

Panels:

Hori Fighting Stick VX/V3 panel: $20
Metal plate made by blklightning21/Lighting Label Customs; joystick hole is off by 5mm; and due to the design of the FSVX, there are no joystick mounting posts. So it fits onto an FSVX, but causes clearance issues with the joystick. I've manage to use it with a JLF with no shaft cover, though. Includes matching hand-cut plexi. Mostly good for custom casings.
panel_fsvx.jpg

Hori Real Arcade Pro VX/V3 panel: $30
All made by blklightning21/Lighting Label Customs; never used. Straight-Vewlix layout with JLF mounts; includes matching plexi and Gundam 00 artwork.

I've been reading through some TF books (like Prime Targets) now having finished the final season of beast wars a while ago. I feel that I have watched everything enough times now (gen1 and bw twice through on dvd alone) to reflect on all that is glorious with the series.

So here's my Top Ten pre- tf: the movie stories:

(air-date order, not preference)

10. Enter the Nightbird - one of my favorites when it first aired. Ninja robot = beast. A nice stand-alone story

9. Changing Gears - gears had a shitty character design but his personality was great and I always laugh during this episode

8. A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court - I love the cheesy 80s fantasy stuff - merlin, the owl, etc.

7. The God Gambit - mature storyline for TF and a good one. very memorable.

6. Make Tracks - tracks was my favorite autobot so his two stories rate up there for me. Raoul > Chip

5. Auto Bop - the other tracks episode, this time complete with great cheesy 80s breakdancing and Blaster vs Soundwave!

4. Prime Target - enjoyable riff on "The Most Dangerous Game

3. Starscream's Brigade - My favorite episode of all when it originally aired. Bruticus was tight as hell and the attitude of the Stunticons was great.

2. Trans-Europe Express - You wonder why they didnt think of this story (autbots in a cross-country race) earlier

1. Hoist Goes to Hollywood - was never a big Hoist fan but Tracks does some good stuff in this episode and it is very funny. Its also in Hollywood, nuff said.

Top 5 post-tf: the movie stories:

5. Webworld - another favorite when it first aired. Galvatron as really, really crazy

4. Ghost in the Machine - starscream trying to put Unicron back together was mind-boggling when I was a kid and brought back all of the horrible memories from the movie

3. Only Human - COBRAAAAAAAA!

2. Grimlock's New Brian - I always liked COmputron and the Flowers for Algernon-esque ending put a little  in my eye...

1. The Return of Optimus Prime - ya damn right.

Top Ten Beast Wars Stories:

10. Beast Wars - sets up the show masterfully, introduces Dinobot and his complexities

9. Power Surge - always liked this one, Terrorsaur shines

8. Gorilla Warfare - I would have gone nuts for this one when I was a kid. Balls-out action

7. The Trigger - Floating island stuff was great, made you want to play it as a video game or something

6. Possession - one of several G1-heavy episodes.

5. Before the Storm/Other Voices - setting up the grand plot that was BW, the season finale really amps things up and gives us a great cliffhanger.

4. Coming of the Fuzors - I loved the Sergio Leone touches throughout both of these episodes. Lots of good violence too

3. Code of Hero - my only complaint is that I would have liked this to happen in the midst (or end) of a 2 or 3 parter but still the greatest.

2. The Agenda - Even better than the first season's finale, this is perhaps the single best storyline in Beast Wars or G1 Transformers. Megatron's speech at the end as he is about to blast Optimus still gives me chills.

1. Nemesis Part 2 - season 3 finale threw in everything and the kitchen sink. Although it wrapped up way too quick, it was still very rewarding, especially Waspinator's fate.

So yeah, use this thread to talk about whatever.

Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II !!

Dark Souls is the sequel, more like successor to the highly succesful Demon's Souls. This time its Namco/Bandai picking up the publishing rights. For those who don't know what the first one was about here's the quick rundown. Now being developed for both the 360 and the PS3
The game will focus on dungeon exploring and the tension and fear that arise when players encounter enemies in this setting. The game is being called a spiritual successor to the Demon's Souls (which was a spiritual successor to the King's Field games). The player will battle using various weapons and strategies to survive in a dark fantasy world. Online features will allow players to share the play experience without need for direct communication.

There will be more weapons, spells, and no classes. It is also said to be 'significantly harder', with more enemies and more difficult encounters. It will include leaving messages to other players, seeing others' deaths, and PvP as well as a new co-op system.[3][4][5]

Game Spot First Look.

Anticipated release end of 2011.

Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

$

Don't know who made the first thread, but I'm making the second. Post your opinions about games that you're sure others will find unpopular. I'll begin:

- Metal Slug 3 is a PIECE OF SHIT. It's like Sonic CD: super-freaking-bad, yet everyone loves it for some reason. It has multiple paths. WHOOPDEE FREAKIN' DOO. I can fall asleep playing this bore-fest. It's tedious, and started the "let's make the series Battletoads-cheap" trend that 4 and 5 continued. 3 is better than 4 or 5, but that's it.

- Metal Slug 6 is WAAAAAY better than the rest of the series. That's right. You heard me. Unique character properties, good pacing in the levels, good bosses, all around fun. Way better than shitty, shitty 3. And a little better than 2 or X. Plus, it's the only game in the Anthology that doesn't lag so bad it's nearly unplayable. Though it still lags a little.

- Yes, the Anthology lags, at least on PS2. If you aren't noticing it, TRY LOOKING HARDER because it's there.

- Sonic CD sucks. I say this like once every three months. But it's true. It's the second-worst Sonic game ever made, right behind Sonic 360/PS3. Sonic Team can suck my balls. If I ever get the money I'm buying Sonic. As in the rights to the characters and games. So I can make one that doesn't fucking suck.

- To paraphrase Viscant: Sonic 2 had it right. We've been going in the wrong direction ever since. Add this: Sonic 2 wasn't made entirely by Sonic Team. That should tell you something right there.

- Final Fantasy 7 was overrated, as was 12.

- Square-Enix is shit.

- Vyse is the best main character in an RPG ever. Ever. Cloud doesn't even come close.

- A fun and competitive 3D Street Fighter is possible. Just because all current attempts have sucked doesn't mean they should stop trying.

- No, people aren't saying your favorite game is a piece of shit just because they suck at it. Chances are if 95% of the world says it is a piece of shit, it's because it's a piece of shit. This is directed to you Sonic fanboys out there.

- Kirby Superstar was the SNES's best game. Yes, I've played Super Metroid, Yoshi's Island, Illusion of Gaia, and (in all likelihood) any other game you care to mention.

- Doom wasn't a corridor shooter. It was an arcade action twitch game that spawned corridor shooters. Doom plays nothing like what it preceded. That's why people still play it and make levels for it.

- Metroid Prime isn't a corridor shooter. It's an exploration-RPG game that just so happens to put you in a first-person perspective, using guns, in corridor-heavy environments.

- The Wiimote sucks. Except for WarioWare. Actually the Wii sucks in general. And I love every other Nintendo system I own.

- Ocarina of Time wasn't as good as Wind Waker. Yeah, I said it. Wind Waker's only blemish was the Triforce hunt.

- No game, past or present, has as cool a final boss battle as Wind Waker. Gears of War kinda-sorta comes close.

- Gears of War is 20 times better than any shitty Japanese game you care to mention.

- Shmups are, at their basest level, about memorization. I hope that shmups become more random and promote more reactivity instead of Dance Dance Revolution twitch. Geometry Wars is a move in the right direction. So was the meteor level in Gradius V.

- Astroboy is the best GBA title you've never played. It's by Treasure and is very Gunstar Super Heroes-ish. Find this game NOW.

- Double Dragon Advance is the second best GBA title you've never played. Give it five minutes and tell me it wasn't worth every penny, I dare you.

- Metal Gear sucks. I just care for the story. On the inverse, Snake is awesome and makes Smash Bros. more awesome just by being in it.

- The American Zelda cartoon was FUCKING GREAT regardless of what otaku Japanophiles believe. Cocky ass mercenary Link > never talks game Link.

- Captain N... was mostly shit. But the good episodes were stellar. And yes, the same Link appears here, and other than some initial whining, he's as cool as ever.

- Pichu w/ goggles better be in Brawl.

- See that dude in my AV? That's Rei, the coolest Capcom character ever made. He got the shaft in the game he was in... so he better be the star of MvC3  (Insert El Salvador reference here)

- Symphony of the Night was not the best Castlevania game.

- Super Castlevania 4 was better than SotN. /braces for impact

- Megaman X8 is the best X game. Ignore Gigavolt Man-o-War's stage, though. The rest of the game is pure sex.

I know there is a gallery on SRK somewhere but that place is weird. It doesn't show all the threads for some reason. Only recent ones. Anyway we have a 2 threads like this in the Sakura forum and there were no complaints. This forum is kinda dead anyway so hope nobody minds.

Here are the Juri things I've done so far. By that I mean I took someone's image into photoshop lol.

SRK MAFIA XIII: SRK Vs. The End of the World -- Shut Him Up (DAY 2 BEGINS)

$

Welcome to the thirteenth edition of SRK Mafia! This one's going to be a little interesting...but I hope you guys enjoy it without overdosing on Tylenol. Since the FGC vs. Illuminati game is about to wrap up within at most 2 more cycles, I'm putting this one up early. I'll post the leaderboard when that game wraps up.

Theme:
SRK is gearing up for a real live version of mafia at Evo. However, things take a turn for the worst as the apocalypse happens just before they can commence the game, with six members of the group being possessed by demons of mafia games past, bent on destroying the remnants. However, the demons are sneaky, and choose not to manifest until nightfall when everyone's asleep. Trapped in the Caesar's conference hall, the group has no other choice but to solve their problems the best way they know how -- by turning it into a mafia game.

Overall game idea (if you're new to Mafia games):
30 people get thrown into a situation where you don't know who to trust. Each day the SRKers get together and decides to kill somebody, to try and find the demons. After a vote, the person with the most votes is killed by the SRKers. At night, everyone goes back to their beds to sleep, and the demons get their turn to kill people. If the demons have the same amount of people as the SRKers, they win the game. If the SRKers kills all the demons, they win. You win or lose as a team, not individually, so do your best to help your team out!

NOTE: These are the exact images I will send via PM when I assign roles. There will be no passwords anyone can garner from these role descriptions, since everything is out in the open.

Also, despite me giving out roleless cards with <sikwidit>'s name on it, you may choose to die as anyone that has played an SRK Mafia game before if you are given the <sikwidit> card. After the game starts and your roles are received, you can PM me with your death request. Death requests are on a first come, first serve basis. The first person who dies that does not submit a death request will die as <sikwidit>. Anyone else who does not submit a death request will be left up to mine, and the Loser's Lounge's, discretion.

Note about the role selection process:

24 hours before the game starts, I will select 5 of the demons first: <Vynce>, <RadicalFuzz>, <Manx>, <ForgeDigger>, and <kaz>. Those 5 must then choose whether they will have the <Bious> role, or have one stock to block a last gasp. Once they have decided that, then <RadicalFuzz> can choose his target, as I will then assign the rest of the roles.

Phases:

The game will cycle between day phase and night phase. In order to keep things consistent, we will be running a 48 hour cycle split into 2 phases, which will always start/stop at the same time.

Day phase will last 36 hours. (9AM to 9PM CST) During this phase, players must decide who they want to lynch. All votes are done privately through PM. People with day abilities must PM their choices by the end of the day phase.

Players who do not submit their lynch vote before the deadline two day phases in a row will be DQ'd. They will be listed as dead, and their role revealed. They will not receive a last gasp if they are an SRKer.

Night phase will last 12 hours. (9PM to 9AM CST) During this phase, the demons must decide who they want to kill. People with night actions must PM their choices before the deadline.

Talking is allowed during all phases.

Night Phase Order of Actions:

<Black Jesus>, <ForgeDigger>, <Icege>, <Pimp Willy>, <The Chief>, <SoVi3t>, <Vynce>, <Manx>, <SWBeta>, <Missing Person>

Votes:
No Lynch is always a valid voting choice at all phases of the game. Your choice must be PMd to me by the end of the day phase. Votes cannot be changed once PMd. Include your day ability choices in the PM (though you can vote and wait on your ability if you feel the need to)

Votes will be publicly revealed in the thread at the end of the day phase.

When you die, your allegiance as well as your role will be revealed.

Last Gasp
When a townsfolk is killed, they are able to make a last gasp. PM me with your message and I will post it into the thread; do not post into the thread yourself. If you feel the need to make a post in game after your death, keep it non game related ("nice game guys") and keep it to one post only. Posting anything game related after death will result in a ban, the length of which will be determined by myself, Pimp Willy, SWBeta, and NoodleHead, possibly others should others begin running games.

People Banned From Playing:
Azure (2 game ban)
highlulu (2 game ban)
3rdSTRikeLOVE (2 game ban)
Hecatom (1 game ban)

Notes On Game Size:
We should be able to scale down the game if we cannot get 30, and scale it up if we have a huge interest. But I'd like to aim for 30 people.

First dibs go to people who have played before, as well as people who registered pre 2013 (just to avoid new people who won't necessarily follow the game). We've had a big problem with inactivity in the past, and I'd like to make sure people are interested. So if you are a 2013er/2014er, that doesn't mean you're automatically out, it will come down to my discretion, so still sign up!

The game will start at 11:00 AM CST (Central Standard Time). This will start the first day phase. The first day phase will last 48 hours. Be sure to check in on the thread during this time if you are in the game.
COMMON SENSE RULES THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO POINT OUT, BUT NOW HAVE TO:

1) Do not edit ANY POSTS. Period. For any reason. Do not ask us to verify with mods that you did not have any malicious intent in editing your posts, we will not do it. Do not provide me with any photographic evidence of your edits. There are going to be no warnings this time, just DQ's. Habitual editors will be banned. We have had this BS happen way too much during these last two games. If you have anything to add, or any clarifications to typos to make, or a broken image/link in your post, create a new post to address it.

2) Do not PM anyone playing the game. If you are mafia, keep your PMs in the mafia conversation. If you're one of the lovers, keep your PMs inside the Lovers conversation. You should not be PMing anyone else if you are them, and if you aren't, you have no business using the PM inbox at all regarding this game. If you have any questions regarding gameplay, PM me. If someone PMs you that shouldn't be, do not mention it in the thread, just PM me with the the contents of it. PM'ing once will result in a DQ. Habitually doing so will result in a ban. (Things not game related will not result in any penalty, but to keep the integrity of the game, if someone playing PMs you, please report it to me.)

3) No coaching after you're dead. This includes outside of SRK. I don't care what format you're thinking of using, be it Battle.net, AIM, MSN, Skype, Smoke Signals, Texts, Morse Code. Don't do it. Also, because this has happened recently, I will not verify any of your hunches after you die. Keep it to yourself, take it to the Loser's Lounge, if someone shares information they know, don't bring it to anyone else's attention that's still in the game. If someone does this, PM me with the proof, and that person will face a ban.

4) No discussing or plotting to break or bend the rules in your PMs, lovers and mafia. I'll be in those conversations anyway, so that should go without saying. But just in case you think you can do it while I'm sleeping, think again. If you start discussing something that I don't immediately catch, and that action is taken, once I find out, the perpetrator of the act and the instigator will both receive bans and DQs.

5) If you are lovers or mafia, you will not be allowed into the Loser's Lounge until you leave the PM conversation after you die. It's not entirely clear on how you do this by looking at it, but upon your death, simply click "Delete Conversation" on the left-hand side of the screen. This will only delete it on your end, and no one else's.

6 Do not try to get removed from the game after it already starts, or try to break the rules to get DQ'd. If something super unexpected happens, I'll try to be reasonable, but overall, if you know you're going to be busy, and unable to play at all, don't sign up. If you suddenly see a full schedule hit your plate just before we start, ask me to take your name off the list, and I'll put in an alternate. After we start, I'm not going to take your name off unless you have a really good reason, and I can find an alternate to take your place. Otherwise, don't deliberately break a rule just to get a DQ. You will not just get a DQ, but banned.

7. Do not post any PMs, even as a joke. If you are going to make an image joke regarding PMs, at least make it obvious that it's a joke (e.g. make it using MSPaint.)

8. English only in game. No foreign languages or encrypted posts are allowed. This prevents the open flow of information. I will make certain exceptions for certain foreign words that have entered the English vernacular, such as "Hasta la vista," or "Por que?" but an entire post in a foreign language will not be permitted.

How to Hit Box SSFIV Tutorial Index
Glossary of Common Terms and Techniques
Spoiler:
2nd Position - Moving your Right Index Finger over to the F directional button. Both hands are used for directional inputs.

Buffering - Waiting to finish a motion. Inputting a special move but delaying your attack until later in your “buffer window” of about ⅓ of a second.

Cardinal - Up / Down / Left / Right directional buttons. Referred to when skipping diagonals in moves.

Double Tap - Hitting the same button twice quickly. Traditionally used in combo links, Hit Box adopts this technique for the directional buttons.

DPM - “Dragon Punch Motion” or Shoryuken.

Frames - SSFIV:AE runs at 60 Frames per Second (FPS). Frames are the benchmark time metric in video games. “Losing frames” and “3-frame motion” refers to how fast a motion is performed.

Light Position - Moving your Right Index Finger over to the Light Punch button to aid in piano technique. Using both hands on the attack buttons.

Piano - Rapidly pressing one input after another without pressing two simultaneous buttons together. Pianoing is traditionally used for inputting moves like Chun’s lightning legs or Honda’s hundred hands, but Hit Box adopts this technique for pianoing directional inputs as well.

Plink - Plinking is hitting a button the frame after another button is pressed. Traditionally known as “Priority Linking” for helping combo execution. Hit Box adopts this term for inputting motions at optimal speed.

RIF - “Right Index Finger.” Commonly referred to with 2nd Position.

Slide - Sliding your fingers across the buttons. Slide is primarily used on Hit Box for an easy way to input Half Circles and 360’s/720’s.

SOCD - “Simultaneous Opposing Cardinal Directions.” Holding 'Left + Right' or 'Down +Up' at the same time. Left + Right = Neutral. Down + Up = Up. Many techniques stem from SOCD use.

Tiger Knee - Buffering a move into a jump, and finishing the motion the instant your character is airborne. Or ,loosely, inputting a special move directly after you jump.

SSFIV:AE Shortcut Guide
Spoiler:
Dragon Punch
636 - Walking Dragon Punch - F, DF, F + :atk:
Hold Forward and tap Down. As soon as you release the Down button press :atk:
- Easiest and fastest DP.
- You can also rapidly tap Down to have a DP already buffered and impose your will!
- This shortcut is fantastic for combos. F + Jab, DF, F +:atk:

323 - Crouching Dragon Punch - DF, D, DF + :atk:
Hold DF and quickly release the F button and repress it.
- You remain crouching through the entire motion to keep your hitbox the lowest possible.
- The best anti air motion.
- Easiest from a blocking position.
- Great for comboing off of lows: DF + Short, D, DF +:atk:

Slide Half Circles
Cardinal HCB - F, D, B + :atk:
Take your index finger on Forward and slide to the left. Only the cardinal directions matter, and you can save yourself some serious frames here!

Cardinal HCF - B, D, F + :atk:
Take your MIDDLE finger and slide from Back to Forward
You can slide with your ring finger, but I find it easier to shift my middle finger over for a more controlled slide.

Slide Cardinal Double Half Circle - F, D, B, F, D, B + :atk:
Move your ring finger over to Forward and slide to the left. Chase after with another slide with your Index finger for the second slide. It all comes out as one smooth motion.
- Stretch your fingers to create as much distance between the two slides as you can.
- Raise your middle finger to avoid pressing extra buttons.
- Cradle the motion with your wrist to make the motion easier.
- This requires practice, but is very rewarding for characters with this motion.
- P2 Side requires a more exaggerated cradle wrist motion to avoid hitting the attack buttons.

SOCD Walking FADC - Hold Forward, tap Back + Focus Attack
While you're holding Forward, simply tap focus attack + Back at the same time.
- This uses SOCD's to make your FADC much faster.
- You can blow through meaties and fireballs in one press for optimal offense.
- Never stop the forward pressure!

QCF x2 Ultra Shortcut From Neutral - D, DF, D, F +:atk::atk::atk:

Input this shortcut normally, or use SOCD's to get the fastest "quick draw" ultra possible; achieving a true 4-frame input speed.
- Plink D-DF-BDF and release to F+:atk::atk::atk:
- Position your fingers like a ladder in different heights so when you press your hand down, you will naturally plink D->DF->BDF in the correct order.

Walking Ultra Shortcut - Hold Forward and tap DB twice, :atk::atk::atk:
Hold the Forward button and simply tap DB, DB
- This uses SOCD Down by holding Back + Down + Forward to = Down. (L+R=Neutral)
- This allows you to react and punish lots of specials and whiffs.
- It makes your FADC into Ultra combos much easier since you don't have to let go of Forward the entire combo.

360’s
Slide 360 - F, D, B, U + :atk:
Slide your index finger from Forward to Back and press Up + :atk: together with your right hand.
- Slide as fast as you can for the fastest 360 possible.
- Skip all the diagonals to save frames.
- P2 side is the exact same motion: Slide Forward to Back. Not side dependant.

Cardinal 360’s
Any mixture of the cardinal directions to perform a 360 (270) degree motion. These methods are not as fast as sliding, but can be incorporated as buffer patterns into your footsies for a smarter, faster SPD.
“Waddle” 360 - :F, B, D, U + :atk: / B, F, D, U +:atk:
B, F and SOCD plink D to U +:atk:
- Buffer in the F and Back, and plink D to U + :atk: to finish in two frames.
“Corkscrew” 360 - :D, DB, B, F, UF + :atk:
Roll a quarter circle back, and plink F to UF + :atk: when you’re ready to finish.
- Great for walking 360’s
“Standing 360” - U, F, D, B + :atk:
Only used for finishing walking Standing 720’s and practicing Standing 720’s.
- Note: One of the hardest things in Street Fighter. Get ready to practice.
- Easiest to tap U and slide F to B + :atk:.
- Try to end with B + :atk: perfectly, because you only have a few frames to complete the motion before your pre-jump frames run out.
- Buffer a cardinal 360 :)B, D, F / D, DB, B, F etc.), walk forward shortly, and finish with a Standing 360 + PPP for a walking Standing 720. See Standing 720 for more detail.

720’s
Slide 720 - F, D, B, U, B, D, F + :atk::atk::atk:
Take your index finger and slide F to B, tap U, and slide B to F with the same index finger. One smooth motion.
- Preferred method.

Piano 720 - B, D, F, U, B, D, F + PPP
2nd Position Recommended: Move your Right Index Finger (RIF) over to F and your Left Index Finger over to D for the fastest and cleanest piano.

Standing 720
Same notation, only performed at optimal speed.
- Extremely difficult. Get ready to practice.
- Slide method preferred.
- 7 Pre-jump frames for Zangief and T.Hawk to complete the Standing 360 portion of the move.
- Skipping the diagonals makes this viable for Hit Box in tournament.
- Try to end the 720 perfectly as a just frame on F + PPP, otherwise you are wasting frames and making life much harder on yourself.
- Practice makes perfect. :P

"If I sound emotional, it's because I have people threatening my kids," Knowlton told CNN. "It's because I have people threatening to kill me right now [that] I'm having to talk to the FBI and have private security to keep my children from being skinned alive and shot at."

his excuse is hilarious.

The FINAL FANTASY XIV™ Thread: SRKGD's Goin' Balls Deep #Kreygasm

Yeah, we have the FF thread, but FFXIV is such a huge game... I don't want to clutter the FF thread with every little FFXIV thing that comes by. Plus, we need a listing of SRK players, their time zones, and their characters' names, races, etc so we can coordinate and do shit together. We can also plan raids and shit with this thread.

99% of SRKGD is playing on the LEVIATHAN server/world. If you want to roll with us, that's the server/world to choose when creating your character.

Post up your character's name, race, starting nation, primary job/class, and your area/time zone, and I'll list them below.

Also, the SRKGD Linkshell will be sending out invites in a few hours. You must be on the list below to get sent an invite.

Quick Guides:

Leveling
FATE grinding is the fastest way to level at the moment. Here are recommended locations based on level:

1-13: No FATEs. Clear your Hunting Log instead.
13-21: Western La Noscea - Aleport/Swiftperch Teleport
21-27: Southern Shroud - Quarrymill Teleport
27-35: Eastern La Noscea - Costa Del Sol Teleport
35-42: Coerthas Central Highlands - Dragonhead Teleport
42-50: Northern Thanalan - Ceruleum Processing Plant Teleport

How to FATE successfully:
1. Join party
2. Check map for FATEs
3. If FATE has existed for less than 2 mins, teleport/chocobo there ASAP.
4. Get first claim if possible.
5. Spam AoEs until FATE is 80% complete.
6. Check map for next FATE.
7. Repeat from Step 3.

Pro Tip 1: Stay in central ground so you are about equal distance from everything.
Pro Tip 2: If you are CNJ, unlock GLD and learn Flash to use as AoE. If you hit 30 and get WHM, don't equip WHM gem (WHMs can't use Flash). Stay as CNJ to spam AoEs. Don't forget to re-equip WHM gem every multiple of 5 level to do WHM job quests.

Beyond Level 50
If you're wondering what to do once you hit 50, check below:

1. Finish Story if you haven't. Post game content only becomes available after completing the final story battle in The Praetorium.
2. Castrum Meridianum. You get 100 tomes of philosophy every time you clear CM. You use phil tomes to buy Darklight gear, from the NPC names Auriana at Mor Dhona (Revenant's Toll Teleport). Generally, body and leg pieces cost 825 tomes each, hands/feet/head cost 495 each, and all accessories cost 375 each. Prices differ for tanks and mages because their body piece covers the head as well. Using the prices I listed for standard DPS roles, it will cost you ~5385 tomes of philosophy to be fully equipped in Darklight gear, which = 54 CM runs. I recommend getting the accessories first, then Body/Leg, then Hands/Feet/Head.
3. While you're grinding for phil tomes, go to Waking Sands in Western Thanalan to find post-game missions. Namely, the mission that unlocks Hard Mode Ifrit. Unlock HM Ifrit in the Duty Finder by completing the quest, and start doing runs. Ifrit drops a random weapon for a random job (100% drop rate) if killed. It's a 1/9 or ~11% chance that it drops the weapon for your class. Keep doing Ifrit HM until you get your weapon.
4. With your Ifrit weapon and a few DL gear, you can begin comfortably doing Amdapor Keep runs. You unlock AK by completing a quest offered at Vesper Bay (Where Waking Sands is). AK is the most important run you can do at this point, because it gives you 40 tomes of mythology (in addition to 80 tomes of philosophy) every time it's cleared. You need myth tomes to buy your relic armor piecea. The prices for your relic armor pieces are the same amount as Darklight, except you use myth to buy instead of phil. You are capped at gaining only 300 myth tomes a week, so it will take 3 weeks to save up enough to buy your relic body piece, for example. 300 myth tomes = 8 AK runs. So it's best to get your 8 runs out of the way early in the week, so you can do CM runs and other stuff for the rest of the week. AK chests also drop some nice gear to tide you over until you get more Darklights.
5. Sometime between AK runs, go to Vesper Bay and speak with the NPC Nedrick Ironheart (He gives the quest for AK and others) to flag the Relic Reborn quest, which rewards you with your Relic Weapon when you clear the entire quest line. After speaking with him, go to Revenant's Toll (Teleport) and speak with NPC Rowena. Then teleport to Fallgourd Floats (Northern Shroud), chocobo to Hyrstmill, and speak to NPC Gerolt.
-5a. Get the broken weapon from where he asks you to. Refer to the list below for your job/class:
Bard: Natalan
Black Mage: U'Ghamaro Mines
Dragoon: Natalan
Monk: Zaha'rak
Paladin: Zaha'rak
Scholar: Sapsa Spawning Grounds
Summoner: Sylphlands
Warrior: U'Ghamaro Mines
White Mage: U'Ghamaro Mines
-5b. Go back to NPC Gerolt. You now have to buy a special weapon and 2 level III materias to meld to the weapon. Refer to the list below for the weapon/materia you need based on your job/class:
Bard: Longarm's Composite Bow (Materia: Heavens Eye III)
Black Mage: Sanguine Scepter (Materia: Savage Might III)
Dragoon: Champion's Lance (Materia: Savage Aim III)
Monk: Wilding Cesti (Materia: Savage Aim III)
Paladin: Aeolian Scimitar (Materia: Battledance III)
Scholar: Erudite's Picatrix Of Healing (Materia: Quicktongue III)
Summoner: Erudite's Picatrix Of Casting (Materia: Savage Might III)
Warrior: Barbarian's Bardiche (Materia: Battledance III)
White Mage: Madman's Whispering Rod (Materia: Quicktongue III)
I recommend buying the weapon and materia through the Market Board, then /search for a level 50 crafter who can meld the materia to the weapon for you. Return the weapon to NPC Gerolt.
-5c. Kill the Dhorme Chimera. This is an 8-man instance in Coerthas Central Highlands. Just teleport to Dragonhead and /shout for a group. Or go with FC/LS mates.
-5d. Go back to NPC Gerolt, then teleport to Revenant's Toll and talk to NPC Rowena.
-5e. Clear Amdapor Keep. Just clearing it will get you the item. It's not something you have to search for. If you've cleared AK before this, you'll have to re-clear again. Return to NPC Rowena, then return to NPC Gerolt.
-5f. Kill 24 beastmen. 8 x 3 types. Check list below for your class:
Bard: Natalan - (8) Bloodwings, (8) Fogcallers, and (8) Windtalons
Black Mage: U'Ghamaro Mines - (8) Quarrymen, (8) Bedesmen, and (8) Preists
Dragoon: Natalan - (8) Bloodwings, (8) Fogcallers, and (8) Swiftbeaks
Monk: Zaha'rak - (8) Lancers, (8) Pugilists, and (8) Archers
Paladin: Zaha'rak - (8) Lancers, (8) Pugilists, and (8) Thaumaturges
Scholar: Sapsa - (8) Shelfspine, (8) Shelfclaw, and (8) Shelftooth
Summoner: Sylphlands - (8) Sighs, (8) Screeches, and (8) Snarls
Warrior: U'Ghamaro Mines - (8) Quarrymen, (8) Bedesmen, and (8) Priests
White Mage: U'Ghamaro Mines - (8) Quarrymen, (8) Bedesmen, and (8) Priests
Go back to NPC Gerolt.
-5g. Kill the Hydra. The Hydra is at the same place Halitali is (Eastern Thanalan). /shout for group or go with your people. After killing it, go back to NPC Gerolt.
-5h. Kill HM Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan. /shout for group or go with your people and kill them. If you killed Ifrit before for your weapon, you'll have to re-kill again. The rest is continued from #6 onward.
6. At about 60-75% Darklight, go back to Waking Sands and flag the Hard Mode Garuda quest. Clear the quest to unlock HM Garuda in Duty Finder. Clear HM Garuda for a chance to get her weapon (same chances of dropping as Ifrit). It's not a priority getting her weapon. The priority here is to just clear it, so you can get the clear for your Relic weapon and to unlock HM Titan.
7. Get 80-95% Darklight (By now, you may even have enough saved to buy a relic Body/Leg piece, go back to Waking Sands, flag and clear the Hard Mode Titan quest. Unlock it in Duty Finder and clear Titan. The weapon doesn't matter at all.
8. Buy Radz-at-Han Quenching Oil. It's 900 phil tomes, and Auriana sells them. You will need to buy this and go to NPC Gerolt to clear the Relic Reborn quest line and finally get your Relic Weapon.
9. Grind CM and AK until you have at least your Relic body and all Darklight, then you can begin The Binding Coil of Bahamut, the final endgame dungeon/instance in the game. You flag the quest to unlock BCoB by talking to Urianger in the Walking Sands after clearing HM Titan. Then you go to Wineport in Eastern La Noscea to speak to a couple of NPCs to unlock it.
10. Clear BCoB and work on getting BCoB gear. The Binding Coil has 5 levels, or "turns." Each subsequent turn is harder than the previous, obviously. You need to be armed to the teeth and skilled to comfortably clear Turns 1 through 3. I know nothing about the last 2 turns.
11. Level 2nd class, or level crafting class, or make dat paypuh~, or chill/wait 'til 2.1 in Nov/Dec.

Hey, I've a problem with my Japanese Saturn, unlike any I've read about, and mind you, I've had this Saturn for many years, so I know it quite well and all of the issues with dead battery, worn ram cart slots, etc...

Well, after loading a game, it just hangs. It'll get past the "SEGA" license screen, but it'll just hang. Some games like Fighters History Dynamite have a ''now loading" screen like seen in this link...

...but, my Saturn will just stay on the now loading animation of Mizoguch eating. Can anyone relate?
