"I'll never cut corners in my practice!" Ibuki Notes, Tech and Q&A thread

Obviously there's gonna be a lot of work to optimizing Ibuki. She's not a character that you can be lazy with and get results and she has some inherent flaws that have to be overcome with other parts of her toolset in order to maximize her. Use this thread to look up notes, tech options or just generally ask a question about the character.

DevilJin's notes on Ibuki. Updated with overall gameplan with Ibuki and what you should focus on trying to land in the match..

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ATYZPnVT3cT08VM2apM456h0P_DKLutPHFnTkiuVOdY/edit

Write out of gameplan
Ibuki can be a tricky character to use. She has a lot of different elements of what makes a good character, with some inherent flaws to keep her from being too overpowered. She has the really fast walk speed of a mid range character, but has buttons with large hurtboxes on them more similar to a lower tier character like Gief or Guile. Which means pressing the correct buttons with Ibuki will be a bit more nuanced than it is with Ryu or Chun Li. You’ll have to do a lot more counter poking and whiff punishing, but it’s possible to work the neutral game with her normals and when mixed with a meter for EX kunai, can make some dangerous things happen even before V Trigger.

The key to her neutral game I feel is 3 main things.

Find a way to land LP raida.
Find a way to land s.MK, c.HK, s.HK target combo (aka sweep target)
Find a way to gain V Gauge (land your V Skill and f+HK/s.HK)

Those are the 3 main things you need to focus on as those will get you to a victory the quickest. These are also great things to focus on because they will also inevitably complete her neutral game (or at least the most important aspects of it). Learning each one also teaches you how to use her different buttons and v skill. LP raida and sweep target are good for giving you strong setups for pressure and/or carry to the corner. Your V Trigger is important to turn the match around and give you access to much bigger damage, so the V Skill and f+HK/s.HK can become important there as well. Below I’ll go over these 3 options and the neutral tools to get you to those situations in depth.

NOTE: The kunais ARE an important to her gameplan, but I feel they can’t be the MOST important since they’re a finite resource and IMO she can honestly win matches without using them other than to VTC into a combo. It’s more a sub part of her gameplan that adds to the basics you are already using. I’ll go over those in a later section.

1. Landing LP raida is important for Ibuki because it can be done without having to fish for a counter hit or 1 hit confirm which makes it easier on execution and muscle memory to accomplish. The nice thing about LP raida is that it basically is like ending a combo with a command grab. It’s an attack grab that has the same knockdown properties as a throw so whenever you land it, the opponent can only neutral tech. Giving you a pretty set and forget dash up s.LP or s.MP as a meaty. One of the issues with a lot of characters in SFV is that they have difficulty covering all non invincible button presses after a knockdown combo. LP raida makes it so Ibuki doesn’t have to worry about this. You knock them down you should know what to do. s.LP is easier to time as a meaty, but s.MP can also work.

Your best options to land LP raida are to connect with her LP, MP, HP target combo at close range, land s.MP at a slightly farther range or from furthest range you can just chain s.LK into LP raida. In order to land her LP target combo safely, you’ll want to link with c.LP or s.LP. Preferably s.LP since that’s faster. s.LP, LP, MP, HP, into LP raida confirm at close range. If you see the target string is getting blocked you can press LK to keep yourself safe on block (end the target string with LK instead of HP) . This is only really good at near point blank range though so you wont always have access to this.

s.MP, s.LK, LP raida is really important as this is one of the farther ranged confirms into a combo that you can do safely. Pretty easy to confirm as you can easily see that the s.MP and s.LK have connected before committing to the LP raida. Just remember the cancel window for s.LK into LP raida is pretty short. You can’t hesitate at all when comboing into LP raida or it will whiff or just not come out. You can land this combo from almost the max range of s.MP.

s.LK straight into LP Raida also works, but it is harder to confirm. You’ll have to look for this as a whiff punish when people whiff certain buttons in front of you or just play with your gut and go for it. s.LK to HK kazekiri is also a nice alternative that does a bit more damage, but doesn’t give you as good oki.

2. Finding a way to land s.MK sweep target is also a BIG part of her gameplan. Firstly, it’s a bit more difficult to confirm since you will have to put together counter hits or one hit confirms to get it to land. When you do, it gives you solid meterless damage, corner carry and basically the best post combo meaty setup in the game. Mainly because you can cancel the sweep target into MK command dash and be at very heavy plus frames (probably between like 8 and 10 frames or more). Get enough time to shimmy, throw, meaty and everything inbetween. They go into an air reset that doesn’t cause a knockdown so there is no tech available to them. They just have to take the pressure.

Your main tools for landing s.MK sweep target combo are counter hit s.LP, counter hit s.MP, counter hit c.MP and one hit confirm/whiff punish s.MK.

Counter hit s.LP/s.MP/c.MP combo into s.MK at similar ranges. s.LP will combo into s.MK at max range, while s.MP and c.MP whiff at max range. Which means s.LP is your most guaranteed counter hit. If s.LP lands on counter hit, go straight into s.MK. s.MP and s.MK have more range than s.LP, but they will only combo into s.MK from around the same range as s.LP. s.MP and c.MP counter hits are still really good and give you a bit more time to confirm if you land them. Even if you just mash s.MK after s.LP and they block, you’re still only minus 1 on block. You can set up these counter hits by doing different frame traps to open people up for them. You can do s.LP or s.MP then walk in throw. Then then next time they expect a throw counter hit them with another s.LP or s.MP then combo that on counter hit into the s.MK and start the sweep target.

Play around with the buttons and watch the PAN pressure tutorial for other ideas on how to get the counter hits off these buttons.

The other important way to land s.MK sweep target is raw landing the s.MK. There’s different ways to do this. You can try to one hit confirm this by just looking for the s.MK to hit and then going into the target combo. This is pretty hard to do though as the cancel window for the swep target is pretty short and doesn’t give you a lot of time to confirm if the opponent isn’t really doing anything first. You can try to look for a counter hit message to help you confirm, but you of course ideally want to land this without a counter hit sometimes.

In order to more reliably land this without counter hit, you can try to look for whiff punishes or shimmy people during throws and do it. An example is walking up to Ken right around his s.HK range, making him whiff the s.HK then pressing s.MK and going into the target. You can also walk up to someone then walk backwards to shimmy and punish their throw whiff with the s.MK.

3. Building her V Gauge by landing her V Skill and f+HK or s.HK are I feel the last big part to her neutral game. Ibuki I feel is designed like Necalli where she’s made to be a comeback/late game character. She can win at the start of the round, but it does take a good amount more of resets and pressure as most of her heaviest damage and oppression comes from having the VTC and the bombs ready. You can win an entire round pretty easily just off the momentum from the V Trigger bombs.

When you are in mid to far range, your main tools are going to be V Skill, f+HK and s.HK. This is because Ibuki’s main combo conversion tools like her standing punches and kicks have short range and large hurt boxes that aren’t really conducive for long ranged poking. They’re meant more to win as you get closer, but not much effectiveness once you’re far out.

V Skill is very important as it beats most standing and crouching normals from the opponent once active. She is susceptible to counter hits and her hurt box is rather large before and after its active, but once its active its got a pretty nice hit box that can stuff button really well. It’s technically a projectile so it will beat any normal that isn’t a projectile as long as its spaced right. The non charged version builds about ⅓ V Gauge on hit and a tiny bit on block. The charged version is slower start up, but has a bigger hit box and is very safe at only minus 3 on block.

The regular version is only minus 5 on block so you can still use it in block strings against most characters without worry. Long as you’re spaced out far enough you can use strings like s.MP, c.MP to V Skill to catch people trying to press buttons after or just build a bit of V Gauge. During the initial start up frames of her V Skill she seems to move back a bit giving her room to make buttons whiff and punish them. This is a good help to her neutral game as it allows her to poke without worrying about the large hurt boxes on a lot of her poking buttons. Plus the V Gauge build.

f+HK and s.HK are also pretty important. f+HK is your main tool that can priority trade vs mediums and lights and still win. It also crushes most low normals so you can use it and win for free against a lot of low hitting normals. Space it towards max range for the most effectiveness, but even if you use it at close range it’s still safeish at minus 3. Just be careful of the heavy start up and how her hurt box extends during the move. If you land this move on counter hit and get crush counter, you should usually just combo into HK kazekiri.

s.HK works pretty well vs a lot of good standing buttons and is only minus 2 on block. It’s also a bit faster start up than f+HK. Really good to counter hit buttons like Karin’s s.HK, Mika’s s.MK and other strong annoying standing buttons. Has no lower hit box though so it will lose to any lower hitting mid button or a low attack. If you land this on crush counter you can easily go into s.HP, HK kazekiri from a decent range. If you have V trigger you can do all kinds of nasty damage and reset to them. If they’re too far away from s.HP you can always throw EX raida then command dash in with Raida and keep pressuring.

s.HK also has a really good AA hit box that can stuff farther range jump ins pretty easily. On crush counter you can command dash in and Raida as well.

BASIC FAQ

Hey, where do you guys download your anime?

Tokyotosho is a good place to start with. It has a really simple search engine and covers almost all of the torrent releases when it comes to both anime and manga, be it subtitled or without.

You may want to get a Bittorrent client such as Utorrent to download any of the files there.

I got no time to download! I wanna watch my anime NOW!

No problem, sir. You've got streaming sites such as Goodanime.net or Anilinkz.com that could help you out on that.

How about manga?

You've got separate sites for this too. You can try any of the following:

Mangastream
OneManga
Mangastream.to Reccomended
Mangafox
Haven Reader
Batoto Reccomended

to satisfy your urge for reading manga.

You've told me where to get the anime and manga, but what shows should I watch or read?!

This all depends on the genre you're interested in. Obviously, a lot of shows tend to combine a number of them, but in general, these shows are usually enjoyed by the anime populace, so do give them a try.

This list will probably not cover everything, but mostly the major (and some minor ones). If there's anything major missing, do tell.

Many of these shows and manga are already licensed outside of Japan, so if you want to support them, buy their DVDs or books from you local or online retailer whenever you have the chance!

Some series may have a few other genres it can be defined into; and for these, you'll find 'em in brackets close to the title.

Disclaimer: Before checking the lists as a reference, read this post first.

MvCI Meta and Tier Discussion

The Badness is BACK! Crack is back. Great PR is back...not really back. At least it's back.

Ground Rules. READ. Derail the thread excessively and it will be Hammer Time whycc.gif

Most important
1. Make sure the discussion generally pertains to the meta/strategy or tiers around the competitive gameplay for Marvel Infinite.

2. DO NOT become a Video Game Politician in this thread. If you want to fight for Capcom's rights or fight to overthrow Smasher, please keep that in other threads that are not this one (and be careful with overdoing it in those threads as well).

3. If Marvel Infinite is the most BAD GAME EVER and it makes you so mad that you forget to buy your cup of coffee in the morning, please keep that somewhere else. If the game is random and poopy and shitty compared to Marvel 3, Marvel 2 or whatever else you play, that's great. It also doesn't add anything meaningful to the meta or tier discussion for this game. Be a constructive poster with a bit of joking and trolling to be fun. If you're a full blown destructive poster then you'll be behind bars during most of this thread.

Additional

Please try not to talk too much about games that are not MvCI or the prequels. This is for Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Discussion. If you're getting to the point where you're reminiscing about an old Marvel instead of talking about Infinite, you'll get warned. You can bring them up without the full derail.

Please do not OVERLY DISCUSS balance wishlists. These don't really get the thread going anywhere as it just talks about things that will likely not happen. This thread is to discuss how the characters and meta are in their current state and how to use those tools to overcome things. Wishlists generally talk about a game that doesn't exist. If there becomes a modded Project Marvel version of the game on PC, then a thread can be made for that.

Sega HSS-0136 Mod Work Log

Hello and Welcome to my HSS-0136 Work Log.

The Sega HSS-0136 is a 1 player equivalent of the larger and more famous Sega HSS-130
which is a fully functional replica of a Astro City Control panel made for the Sega Saturn and later the Dreamcast.

The Sega Virtua Stick HSS-0136 is not to be confused by it failed US counterpart
The Sega Saturn Virtua Stick MK 800112

The MK 800112

Keep in mind this project is far from complete at the time of writing but I hope to provide insight and assistance to others hoping to do the same mod.

First I got a Dreamcast Variant of the HSS-0136 Virtua Stick. Re-branded as the "DC GAMEMATE"

HSS-0136before.png
Before tear down

The Words DC Game mate and Fighting Stick are just foil labeled applied to a preexisting Sega Saturn HSS-0136. Yes at the factory the Sega Saturn HSS-0136 was converted quickly to Dreamcast with a few foil labeled applied on the top panel and this

A Sega made Sega Saturn to Dreamcast converter.

Too bad this one was broke before I received it too. Some of the wires from the dreamcast cord came loose. I tried to re-solder them back to the board. but unfortunately they were in the wrong order. As when I used it I burned out the controller ports on my Dreamcast.

Ok, lets go Repair the Dreamcast controller board.
Using this guide
http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-repair-a-dreamcast-with-dead-controller-por/
I replaced the burned out Resistor-Fuse with two 10 ohm metal oxide resistors I got from Radioshack. A less than $2 repair.

DSCF1480.jpg
DSCF1478.jpg
There is the location of the bad resistor-fuse, I neglected to take a picture of the completed repair
but you should see how its done in that Instructible link I gave above.

The red and black wires on the controller board are from a unrelated mod where I replace the cmos battery with a standard 3 volt coin battery.

Okay back to the HSS-0136 Virtua stick.

I manage to peel off the top panel art with out destorying it, by soaking the whole top panel in HOT water then carefully and slowly pealing off the art. Remove the panel from the rest of the arcade stick first before water submersion.

HSS-0136Panelart001-1.jpg
A scan I did of the panel art

Inside I found an Ascii Joystick and knock of buttons, both are Bantha fodder.
Earlier HSS -0136 sticks had Seimtsu parts, later on (especially the DC variant) Sega to save money switched to Ascii made parts. HSS-0136 with Ascii parts have 29 mm button holes, so just like the Sega Agetec stick for the dreamcast the button holes needed to be widen or a replacement panel needs to be made. I also suspect the holes for the joystick mount is off from Sanwa/Seimtsu standards so I have to drill new mount holes later on as well. LS-40, LS-55 and LS-56 fits in where the stock Ascii stick was.

2011-09-29224610.jpg
The button daughter board. Note the cut Ribbon cable.

You have to unsolder each button, or snap the buttons off, as in a mod you not using this daughter board again. I saved it to test the traces to find out the wiring order.

I will add more as my Project progresses.

Imp thread:http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/s.59232/

Q: I'm having problems on SF4 AE for PC.
A: http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/t.46572/page-163#post-5526956

Q: When using the Cthulhu on a PC, I see Select and Start are buttons 9 and 10, and the Home button is button number 13. How come there is a button 11 and button 12, but nothing ever turns them on?
A: Buttons 11 and 12 are read by the Playstation 3 as L3 and R3, the 'clicks' when you press down on the analog sticks. Even though nothing on the Cthulhu activates them, we still have to send the information to the PS3 so that it believes we are a proper controller.

Q: Why won't the PS3 turn on when I press the Home button?
A: When the PS3 is off, it cuts power to the USB ports. SIXAXIS controllers are the only ones that can wake a PS3 up from being off. No wired controller can ever turn a PS3 on.

Q: When using the Cthulhu on a PC, moving the stick around causes BOTH the X/Y axis to change, and the POV Hat to change to match. When using the Cthulhu on a PS3, moving the stick around causes BOTH the d-pad to change, and the Left analog stick to change to match. Why does this happen, and how could I change it?
A: The Cthulhu is designed to do this; it's normal and won't cause any problems. This setup was created as a compromise between how PC games usually expect the directions to be reported (X/Y axis) and how the PS3 expects the d-pad to be reported (POV hat). With this setup, you can just plug and play on most if not all of the games you want to play on both PC and PS3. If you would like the stick to be reported as one and only one of those for whatever reason, hold down the Select or Start button when plugging in; I don't remember which is which, but one disables the X/Y and only reports dpad/POV hat, the other disables POVhat/dpad and only reports over the left analog stick/X/Yaxis

Q: Where can I access the D+/D- lines for a dual mod?
A: D- (white) can be tapped in the D column. D+ (green) can be tapped in the E column.

_________________
Multi-Console 'MC' Cthulhu questions:

Q: What is it?
A: The MC Cthulhu is the multi-console version of the Cthulhu. It uses a more feature-rich chip that allows for the board to support more than just the PS3.

Q: So what's different?
A: The chip is different, and it comes with diodes that help protect the console in case the cord is plugged into more than one console at a time. The green board is the same, all of the parts are the same, the pinout is the same, etc.

Q: What consoles will it work on?
A: Currently, the MC Cthulhu will work on the PS3 (with all of the functionality of the original PS3 Only Cthulhu, so yes, it works just fine on PC), Xbox1, Dreamcast, Playstion/Playstation 2, Gamecube, NES, Super Nintendo, 3DO*, Sega Saturn and TurboGrafx16/PC-Engine consoles. Playstation support appears to work well with many converters.
(3DO support is currently limited to being the only controller. No daisy chain support or support in a daisy chain.)

Q: What about Wii?
A: The GameCube support will work on any game that supports a GameCube controller. (GG:AC, TvC, Smash Bros, Metal Slug Anthology, etc.)

Q: What about on Smash Brothers?
A: Yes! The Gamecube support in the MC Cthulhu includes two different modes for Smash Brothers play. These modes are very experimental so feel free to speak up any input on how it could be improved. Information on how to enter these modes and how they work can be read up on here: Universal PCB (eventually) thread

Q: I have a Cthulhu, but I don't know if I have a PS3 only version, or an MC Cthulhu. How can I tell the difference?
A: If the Cthulhu is assembled, just plug it into a PC and check the game controller applet in the Control Panel. The name should be very clear about whether it is meant for PS3/PC or is a MultiConsole version. If the Cthulhu is unassembled, look in the bag for a set of four diodes; MC Cthulhu kits come with diodes, but PS3 Only versions don't. If you're looking at just the chip, look at the first row of text on the chip; the PS3 Only version will have the text 'F24' on it, usually 18F2450. The MC Cthulhu will have the text 'F25' on it, usually 18LF2550.

Q: What about Xbox360?
A: Nope. Xbox360 uses special chips to prove they're licensed. Until they get publicly cracked, I dont think its going to happen.

Q: What about console X?
A: Maybe, but for now I need more feedback on the consoles already supported. No promises, no guarantees.

Q: If I buy now, and then you get console X added, won't I be screwed?
A: No, you'll still be fine. The MC Cthulhu includes a bootloader that allows the firmware to be updated in the event a new console gets added.

Q: I have a PS3 Cthulhu now. Do I have to buy a whole new board?
A: No. Upgrade chips are available. Installation is just a matter of popping the old chip out, popping the new chip in, and soldering the four diodes into place; if your Cthulhu already has the four diodes on it (board revision 1.4 or higher) then you don't even have to do that, just swap chips. You can find detailed instructions on the diode installation here:
Select Your Power

Q: Where can I buy an MC Cthulhu?
A: Godlike Controls
Focus Attack

Q: How does the board connect to the console?
A: The Cthulhu board has a set of unused holes near the USB jack, labelled with row 1-3 and columns G, A-F, and V. Each one has a specific purpose. For each of the possible consoles you want to use with your stick, you need a cable for that system (from an extension cord or dead controller) and you solder the wires in that cable to specific points on the Cthulhu.

Q: So if I want to play on PS3 and Playstation, I'll need 2 cables coming off of the MC Cthulhu board?
A: Exactly.

Q: I don't plan on ever playing on a Gamecube/PSX/Xbox/ConsoleX. Do I have to put in that cable?
A: Nope. Only put in the cable for the consoles you want to play on.

Q: So how do I install the Playstation, or Gamecube, NES, SNES, or Xbox1 cable on the MC Cthulhu?
A: Instructables for all supported consoles have been placed. Easiest way to find everything related to the Cthulhu is to go to Instructables.com and search for 'cthulhu' which will bring up everything I've done, and a couple of cool knitting instructions.
Gamecube: How To Install an Gamecube cable onto a Multi-Console Cthulhu
PSX: How To Install a Playstation cable onto a Multi-Console Cthulhu
Xbox1: How To Install an Xbox1 cable onto a Multi-Console Cthulhu
NES: How To Install an NES cable onto a Multi-Console Cthulhu
SNES: How To Install an SNES cable onto a Multi-Console Cthulhu
A collection of all of them can be found in rtdzign's RJ45 thread:
http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/r.100475/

Q: How do I update the firmware? Where is it?
A: A link to the most recent version is at the very top of this post. Read the included readme.txt for directions.

Q: I get a weird error when I try to doubleclick Bootloader.exe?
A: Bootloader requires dotNet, which can be downloaded here: Microsoft .NET Framework

Q: What's the button mappings on all of the consoles?

Q: What about if we only want one cable on the stick at a time? Is there way to make removable cables?
A: Yes. Please look into this thread which covers how to use RJ-45 modular connections for making cables.
http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/r.100475/

Q: You said the firmware on the MC Cthulhu can be updated. Can I update the firmware on my current PS3 Only Cthulhu?
A: No. The PS3 Only Cthulhu doesn't contain the ability to update firmware. Even if it did, it wouldn't help; the chip in the MC Cthulhu is much stronger than the chip in the PS3 Cthulhu. There is a piece called the SPI module that is needed for most consoles that just doesn't exist on the PS3 Cthulhu chip.

Q: Can I order console cables from you?
A: Sure. I have extension cables for Playstation, Gamecube and on hand; the same ones used in the Instructables. Price is listed below.

Q: Can I pay you a little extra to install them on the MC Cthulhu for me?
A: I'm sorry but I just can't do that right now. If I had the time, I would, but the SF4 rush currently underway has everything crazy for everyone.

Q: Would it matter what kind of PS cord i use? Do I need a PSX cord or a PS2 cord?
A: PS2 cord is identical to a PSX cord. If it plugs into the controller port on a PSX or a PS2, then it will work for this.

Q: What about converter support?
A:
Tested as working:
Joytron Xconverter360+ (Toodles): Joytron Xconverter 360 Plus

ChimpSMD Questions

Q: What is it?
A: The Chimp is a new board that combines a PS3 Cthulhu with an Imp into one board. It's made for wiring along side an Xbox360 pcb so your arcade stick can work on both 360 and PS3 cleanly and easily.

Q: What's different about the ChimSMD versus the Chimp?
A: http://shoryuken.com/f177/greetings-lizard-lick-amusements-130032/index350.html#post9514577

Q: Why would I get a ChimpSMD instead of just getting a Cthulhu and an Imp?
A: Lots of reasons.
1. With only one board instead of two, the Chimp will be easier to wire up to the 360 board.
2. Autodetection. The Chimp can identify when it is plugged into an Xbox360 and automagically go into 360 mode. No slide switches, no holding down buttons, just plug in and go on any system.
3. Trigger inversion. If you want to connect the Chimp to an Xbox360 pad that requires the triggers to be inverted, the Chimp will handle this for you. No more transistor or inverter chip hacks.

Q: So why would I ever want to use a PS3 Cthulhu instead of a Chimp?
A: There are some reasons for that as well.
1. If you're going to mod more than just a 360 and PS3 pad together, you'll have more than one cable coming out of the box, and risk causing severe problems if its ever plugged into more than one console at a time. The diodes on a PS3 Cthulhu will help you route all of the power in a way that is safe in case that ever happens.
2. The PS3 Cthulhu can be upgraded to an MC easily. The Chimp can ONLY support PS3/PC USB, and cannot and will not be upgradable to a Multi-Console version.
3. If you prefer using the Xbox360 board when connecting to a PC, a regular Imp will make that easier for you. Using the 360 pad on a PC requires holding down three buttons (Short, Strong, RoundHouse) when using a Chimp, while the Imp used just the one button or slide switch, however you set it up.

Q: What about other consoles like PSX, Gamecube, and Xbox1 supported on the MC Cthulhu?
A: They are not and cannot be made to work on the Chimp.

Q: Will there be an MC Chimp in the future?
A: No. I simply can't. The pins that would normally go to the extra console cables are currently used to control the Imp chip present on the Chimp.

Q: How do I install the Chimp in my TE/SE FightStick?
A: Here is the current wiring diagram. Definitely post up in this thread if there are any questions or areas that are vague:
Yfrog Image : yfrog.com/5ychimpmadcatzp

Q: My X/Y axis moves when I hit a trigger button in 360 mode.
A: Known issue with pads using analog triggers requiring inversion. Please read:
http://shoryuken.com/f177/official-cthulhu-chimp-board-thread-mc-firmware-2-0-released-162026/index285.html#post9194306

Q: What should the button layout be?
A: This is rather important, so please pay close attention to this answer. The layout that I HIGHLY HIGHLY absolute must insist upon is the layout from the original MadCatz sticks:
For PS3:
[] /\ R1 L1
 X O R2 L2
For Xbox360:
X Y RB LB
A B RT LT
You can probably rig up things to use a different layout if you like, but they won't be supported.

Q: My 360 board requires the triggers to be inverted. What do I do?
A: On your 360 pad, remove the two trigger pots. Try to keep middle pad of the pots intact if you can; the side pads can be ignored or torn without care, but it'll be easiest if you can leave the middle pad in place. Connect the wire from 3K_Invert screw terminal to the middle pad of the right trigger, and the 4K_invert screw terminal to the middle pad of the left trigger. If the middle pads got torn from removing the pots, follow the trace to find another point to connect the wires.

Q: Can I use a ChimpSMD in a stick by itself?
A: Certainly. The only thing to keep in mind is that it will still try to go to 360 mode if you plug it in with Short, Strong, and Roundhouse held down. As long as you don't hold these buttons down when plugging it in, it will work just fine on PS3 and PC by itself without being dualmodded.

Q: I want to use the Xbox360 mode on a PC.
A: If you hold down the Short, Strong, and Roundhouse buttons (1K, 2P, 3K) when plugging it in, it will skip the autodetection and go straight to Xbox360 mode.
_____________________
Misc:
Q: What are the golden rules?
A: The two golden rules of dual pcb mods:
1. All pcb's must be common ground.
2. All pcb's must be powered at all times.

Q: My MadCatz 360 TE/SE fightstick occasionally has a problem where the RT and LT buttons will stop working. If I replug, they work for a while, but eventually go out again.
A: Known problem with 360 TE/SE boards, and happens whether it is dual modded or not. No known 100% fix. Suggest you rearrange buttons so you dont use RT or LT.

Laser Cut Acrylic Cases

Selling put together plexi case shells. The case comes with all the screws already mounted so you just need to add your own buttons, joystick, pcb, art, and USB adapter. You can request them to be clear or you can choose colored paper to be inserted in the panels. Button layout of your choice. These cases fit Sanwa, Seimitsu, and most other arcade parts. Happ/IL will not fit.

The cases come together like a puzzle and then they are screwed together to make them structurally stronger. The inner structure plexi and parts are .220" and the art panels are .093". Art can be inserted all around the case and even in the inside or you can remove the art and go for the clean clear plexi look. Plenty of room on the inside to do wiring and it even comes with a plexi plate that has plexi spacers to mount Brook boards or a PS360+. I'm sure you can mount other pcbs on the plate but I specifically designed it for the brook/ps360+ board.

Jungle-Tested Combos! Rawr!

So far, I know Electricity and f+MK are both plus on block. Electricity is +1 and f+MK is +2.

Watching the WSO Day minus 5? stream archive, I noted ProblemX used crouching or standing LP, Electricity, s or c LP, b,f+LP as his main blockstring for pressure.

c MK, s LP, Rolling Attack works too I believe. c MK is negative on block but is still very strong.

There are many instances when Blanka can spend 1 bar of Super Meter to add on his invincible reversal, I'm assuming d,u+KK, in his combos, especially in his v trigger 2 combos! This adds lots of damage and stun!

Why did Blanka need Birdie's Dolphin Dive command throw, lol? His v skill, lying on the ground, can be made longer by holding Down, then also cancelled into his forward or backward hop! His mobility is off the charts!

Don't know the price of these things although I've seen some go on ebay for a moderate amount which seems fair. Looking to buy a 6 button only (action buttons) and preferably with the capcom artwork, I've also heard the IL/Happs are better or the ones made before 2003? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Pm me with any details, I'm interested in prices.

I'm UK based also, so would have to consider additional shipping costs if bought from overseas.
