Music Producers Thread v 3.0

Let's try and revive this old thread, and maybe get people who are interested in producing music some info. I'll try and update this often. This little mini guide I wrote is incomplete but I'll finish it eventually.

What's the best sequencer for a beginner?
Most people will tell you Flstudio and Reason. Flstudio is very intuitive, and reason has everything you need in one package,

however, reason cannot load any VSTs. Flstudio is more flexible in that you can load VST instruments and FX, but remember that

VSTs aren't free.

What are some other sequencers I can use?
Cubase
Cakewalk
Buzz
FLStudio
Reason
Ableton Live
Pro Tools
Logic

What's the best program out there?
None. There have been numerous releases by artists who've released stuff on free trackers such as Buzz to professional programs

like Pro Tools. There is no best sequencer.

What if I'm too lazy to read that?
Music theory will help you especially if you don't know a thing about music and just started. If you're too damn lazy to read that, just play in key. Your ears will guide you.

USF4 combo tier list!!

Where back,let's find out the most damaging combos in Ultra! idea taken from zUkUu and Street fighter x Tekken sub forum.

What's this shit?
A tier lsit,because people love tier lists,right?. Basically, this tier list will tell us the most damaging combos a every character can pull off under certain circunstancies.

Why should I care?
You shouldn't, this tier list aims for damage,not positioning or viability, for easy combos wich leaves you at a good spot there are bnbs.

How can I help?
Giving combos, but remember, this is about damage,not positioning,still there's the case that a bnb is also the max damage a character can get

Why are there so many restriction?
If I allowed character specific combos and jumping/focus on all categories the damage would go too high. For example E.Ryu loop on Rufus would make him top tier in almost all categories

What are the general rules?
-The combo must be done on a passive stading character and it must work on most (if not all) the cast
-No setups (full screen fireball,charging for final TAP...)
-Each category has specific rules,for example the last two categories don''t wollow the two rules above

Notations:
[000] = Damage
s. = (Far) Standing
cl. = Close Standing
cr. = Crouching
j. = Directional Jump (forward or back)
nj. = Neutral Jump
d. = down
u = up
f. = forward
b. = backward
xx = Cancel move with
, = Link
~ = Chain
> = Target\String\Follow up
LP/LK/HK/EX etc = Light, Medium, Heavy or EX version respectively
FADC = Focus Attack Dash Cancel*
RFADC= Red focus Attack Dash Cancel*
(ch) = Counter Hit
(corner) = Corner


-For bulk updates, please post the combos in order of the categories.
-Use this format if possible:
Category:
[Damage] Character [Combo]. For example:

Meterless:
[238] C.Viper [c.HP xx Thunder Knuckle feint, c.HP xx MP Thunder Knuckle]

*If the focus attack hits,you have to say the level of focus (1,2 or 3)

There are,right now, 10 different categories: Meterless, Corner, Counter hit, 1 bar, 2 bars, 3 bars, 4 bars, Ultra, maximum damage super delux and maximum stun hyper special. Each one has different rules and, thereforce, different ressults

On that note, I did take a little initiative and recorded some of the locals in their arcade casuals. The thing with the Philippines though, is that it's level 1/low damage, so it's quite different from the regular game. Lots of Iceman/Iron Man/Doom/Cable for example. :rofl: As there are more UMvC3 players than MvC2 players now (the latter are still more of arcadegoers than console users), better something than nothing.

  • Revamped Library Layout- Fighter selection now docked at the top. Moves list is simpler, break down now stretches out on the right.
  • Time Line Playback Improvements - Multi-threaded playback now means less hanging on the UI and live updating to show which command is currently being playd.
  • Bug fixes on Steamworks - Don't want to test it full screen? Plans are to embed Street Fighter fully with in Frame Trapped so that you can test your moves in an isolated environment without needing to switch windows.
  • Library to Time Line Improved - There are now Player One and Player Two buttons next to the inputs in the Move Breakdown header bar. Clicking these will put the commands into the respective time line queues.
  • Save/Append/Open separated into Player One and Two - Does what it says on the tin.

This is the official SRK Mafia Leaderboard & Game Queue thread. If you want to run a game then post here and I'll add you to the queue. This will be the thread to organize and advertise for any forum games you might want to run. When recruiting for a game please include number of players, theme, and preferred start of game and I'll update the queue to reflect this. Keep in mind that each game will have its own thread for rules and sign-ups, please don't post the entire thing in this thread. Ultra Street Fighter 4 PC Custom Skin Thread

This thread is for the discussion and submission of skins/mods for Ultra Street Fighter 4. There is another thread for technical discussion (how to mod, new techniques, etc.; particular focus on gameplay/moveset modding).

As before, DLC unlocks/workarounds will NOT be discussed and no nudity will be tolerated (c'mon guys, this is a family forum) under penalty of banhammer.

Submissions posted in this thread will be copied to the USF4 Modding Wiki for better organization.

If there's a vanilla mod you would like to see in Ultra, please don't request for someone to convert it for you. Just do it yourself. It's easy.

UPDATE: For beginners, this page will get you started on what files go where when applying mods.

Most importantly: BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL FILES BEFORE DOING ANY MODDING, FFS.

I am in a dark place right now. My husband and I have been married now for 4 years now. I’ll give you all the necessary background so you can give me better advice.

I am an American born Indian woman. I grew up with really conservative parents, that didn’t let me go out, didn’t let me play outside because then my “skin would be too dark.” I went to an out of state college, and there being so far from my parents, I really let loose. I had a fair bit of casual sex, drank alcohol, went to parties. In particular there was a group of guys that I used to go to parties with. The thing was a lot of times, if things didn’t work out they would pressure me to have sex with them. I would sometimes do it. One time they offered me a ride to the airport and then on the way there they told me to give them a blow job or they would leave me on the side of the road. I ended up getting sick of these guys and I tried to cut them out of my life. In turn, they did the best to ruin my reputation. My senior year of college, was extremely bad, I didn’t go out. I lost a lot of my friends.

Afterwards, I got a job in another state, and I did my best to put that part of my life behind me. Then on I tried traditional American dating for a couple more years, and things didn’t pan out so I had my parents help set me up with guys. Now the thing, is my parents knew that I dated, however they never thought I would be the one to have sex. So whenever, they talked to people they told them she doesn’t party or do this or that. I thought I would try to talk to the guy in private and clear things up. However, when I met my husband I decided not to tell him. He was a virgin, and I thought if I told him about my past he would freak out. He really liked the perception of me, as a virgin. He treated me better than any other guy I had been with previously, just a kind soul.

Things were good; I was living a new life. My husband had a great job, I was respected and well liked in the Indian community. Me and my husband recently bought a house, and are pregnant with our first child. One day I came home from work, and I found my husband just crying. When I went to comfort him he told me to die. He showed me that he got a message from a fake South Park Facebook account, and there was a video of me giving a blow job to a guy. I never knew about this video, or anything like it.

My husband called me a stupid whore, told me hated me. He told me that he hopes I miscarry, so that way he can divorce and have nothing to do with me. For the next couple hours he just yelled at me while I cried. Since we got together he has been insecure about his penis size, and the guy in the video had a much larger penis. He kept asking me how many guys I have slept with, how big were there penises. To add to it all, I told him that I think blow jobs are gross, and I never gave him one. I never enjoyed giving them, and I really didn’t want to have to start.

Since then he told me he wants to kill himself that I have ruined his life. I tried to talk to him the best I can, however he hasn’t been listening. For the past couple days he just pretends I don’t exist. His brother talked to him and I think he convinced him not to divorce, however I don’t think things will ever be the same. I don’t think he will ever look at me the same way again.

I know that I messed up, and I should have been honest from the start however I don’t know what to do now. I don’t know how to even take down that video it’s on one of those tube sites. If they decide to share it with my family members, I am pretty sure even my parents will disown me. Everyday I live with so much anxiety. Of the friends I have now, none of them know the details of my past, so I can’t even go to talk to any of them about it.

Poor bastard. But I guess that's what you get for believing a woman has been through college and never had sex.

Note: There was some lag during the match, so I dropped a few links (like in the first few seconds in the vid)
Also, I am aware that I dropped my DP->FADC->U1, probably because lack of application in matches. (I was able to do Ryu's DP->FADC->U1 as an Ultra punish on some matches though)

CHAAAAAAAAANGE NOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!

Just copped Season 2 of DBZ. I missed a lot of this show when it was on (I watched the hell out of the "Next Dimension"/"OVER 9000!!!!" dub back in 95, but I really didn't see much past the whole Ginyu/Goku switch), and actually now I'm glad I didn't.

I LOVE the option to watch the dub with the OG Japanese BGM. (Call me weird, but trying to listen to the Japanese track throws me off a little. I usually watch anime with the dub track on, but with subtitles to see what they're REALLY supposed to be saying. I can't explain why, but that's just my preference.)

Anyway, I find it astounding that the simple act of changing the original background music makes DBZ a different show. Instead of a "I'm trying really, REALLY hard to be bad-ass" feel to the show, the show actually gains a lot of heart and feeling.

Anyway, Season 2 ends where I left off: Ginyu is a frog and Kuririn & Gohan are in Saiyan armor.

I only wish that FUNimation would give us the Ocean Group Dub that the UK got. I don't care about recycled (Super Fighitng Robot) Megaman BGMs or censorship, I just want to hear Brian Drummond as Vegeta, Scott McNeil as Piccolo & Terry Klassen as Kuririn again.

Wallbase. Largest collection of the slickest, coolest wallpapers on the internet, imo. These are great for computers, laptops, and of course, your PS3.

HDD Expansion
Ran out of space on the stock hard drive in your PS3? Want to upgrade? Western Digital is the highest quality HDD brand you can get for your PS3, imo. As of now, they don't have a 1TB HDD of the PS3's 2.5" HDD size, so 750GB is the highest you can get now, which should already be more than enough.

While WD is my brand of choice, any 2.5" SATA HDD is compatible with the PS3. Even Solid State Drives (SSDs) and Hybrid Drives are compatible with the PS3, and Drives of any cache size and RPMs are compatible with the PS3, so there are a lot of choices out there. People have claimed to experience notable gains/advantages with Drives with higher RPMs, as well as using SSDs over HDDs, so you may want to keep that info in mind.

Do note, however, that a lot of people have had problems with the Seagate brand of HDDs. Buy at your own risk.

Side Note: Newegg is an amazing website for ordering these things. I don't think they charge shipping for these HDDs (they didn't charge me shipping), and they were FAST. My credit card info was authorized and the 750GB HDD I ordered was at my house a day and a half later. So yeah, I give Newegg my highest recommendations. For those of you late bloomers looking to jump into the HD age, they've also got great HDTVs at great prices, so check them out!

How do you replace your old HDD with the new one you bought?

If you feel that your PS3 is usually stationed in an environment with inadequate temperature (Read: Hot and muggy as fuck), you may want to look into and invest in an Intercooler to keep it nice and cool. Also, remember that setting your PS3 vertically is better than horizontally if you're looking to keep it well-ventilated.

Cleaning the PS3
Cleaning your PS3 is very simple.

For the outside of your PS3, rub dust/fingerprints/whatever off with micro-fiber cloth.

For the inside of your PS3, use a vacuum cleaner's hose to suck dust from the vents. Don't forget to open the PS3's HDD plating and vacuum there as well. Every once in a while, it will be necessary to completely remove the HDD and vacuum out it's housing area. You can also blow the dust through the vents using compressed air. I find cleaning most effective when the compressed air is used first, then the vacuum to suck out any remaining dust. Clean your PS3 out at least once a month.

DO NOT. I repeat, DO NOT attempt the PS3's hidden feature, the Fan Test. This hidden feature has been known to damage PS3s and shorten their lifespans. You have been warned.

Gophermods, LLC. This company is excellent for console repairs, among other things. Not to mention they're cheaper than other repair stores, including official Sony repair stations. They repair your console and return it to you in record time, and their work leaves little, if nothing else to be desired. Very professional group.

MEDIA SERVERS

Media Servers are great for boosting your PS3's capabilities as a media center powerhouse. Below is a list of good media server programs you can install on your computer or laptop to use for streaming media to your PS3.

Teching throws on wakeup!

I played a 4k earlier who teched every single throw attempt on his wakeup. I mixed in meaty attacks as a mixup attack to it and he blocked every single one. How is this possible? Is there an option select to do both. I did not telegraph these attacks either.

USB Repair Tool - Solderless USB repair for emergencies

The USB Repair Tool is a small, easy to use, and solderless repair and replacement tool. It is designed to be both an emergency repair kit in the field, and a way to revive old controllers/peripherals when you're out of plug and play options. Easy enough for the most novice of hand, it can also be used by those with a soldering skill set given the right circumstances.

  • 1 x Mini USB connector standardized access
  • 1 x 2 position screw terminal for power
  • 1 x 4 position 0.1" solder row
  • 1.00x1.55 inches (25.48x39.27 mm)!

Other Use Cases:
  • Solderless swap to detachable cable setups with Neutrik USB Passthrough connectors. Crimp to stubbed USB cable, run mini B -> A to mounted neutrik.
  • Installing an optical or otherwise powered device. Install Repair Tool, use the screw terminals to leech power without soldering.
  • Non-USB crimp for other cable types/splices. All signals are matched end to end so just pay attention.



The USB Repair Tool is designed to be small an inexpensive enough for any player to pick up and toss into their bag for emergencies in the field. How many times have you or your friends run into issues with your USB cable finally being shredded by the plastic case of your arcade stick enough to become completely unreliable in play?

The real problem becomes when the local tournament modder is so swamped they can’t repair your stick in time for the next match. With the USB Repair Tool it’s a 10 minute fix, most of it being opening your case to get to the cable.

This isn’t just for arcade sticks though, as lots of pad users have these same problems with soldered cables being torn up from use. The board is safe to use externally as well, although it’s best if it’s put into an enclosure after the repair is done.

Let’s walk through it:

Step 1 – Locate the broken area of the cable.

If you find the damaged area is where the cable comes out of the stick, simply pull the cable back into the case a few inches so the damaged area can be repaired and fresh cable is then run out of the stick.

Step 2 – Cut out the bad area, and use a knife or strip tool to expose the USB wires.

You can expose this with a pair of scissors, a knife, or most anything sharp enough to cut the casing


Step 3 – With your forefinger and thumb, open up the IDC terminals.

Step 4 – Insert the USB cables into the IDC terminals.

Make sure you push them all the way in and can see the colors of the wires in the little windows. Once you see them in the windows, take your thumb and forefinger and press quick and firm until the terminals close. It’s important that they close ALL THE WAY.

At this point you can test your cable to confirm it’s alive again.

Step 5 (optional) – Use a zip tie to act as a strain relief.

Once confirmed to be up and operational, you can use a zip tie anchor with zip tie, or a #4 screw to mount the board. Alternatively, if this is say… outside of the controller, such as a repair being done on a pad and not a stick, you can utilize a zip tie to act as strain relief so the board can be kept safely external.

Simply swing the cables underneath, and run the zip tie between the notches. This will keep the pressure away from the terminals while it moves.

Step 6 (optional #2) – Put the assembly into an enclosure to avoid damaging it.

I don’t have a box picked out just yet, but there are some small Hammond enclosures that will probably work great. Eventually I’ll probably design one you can have 3D printed.
