What are your expectations and predictions for SFV as a product and eSport?

$

Generally how well do you feel SFV will sell and attract a casual/hardcore fanbase and how well do you think it will perform as competitive eSport? What do you specifically want out of the game that didn't already happen with SFIV?

For me as far as the product goes, I believe it will sell pretty well and get a name out for itself. I'd say realistically it has no chance of selling as much as MKX did as far as hard copies, but may be able to make up it for it with DLC sales. I personally don't have a problem with it not selling as well as MKX since to me it's just like the 2nd place fat kid at the hot dog eating competition. Maybe the MKX kid ate the most hot dogs and got the hot dog eating trophy, but damn that SFV kid ate good too. The main thing is that Capcom will get a lot of sales while giving people options where they need them which will tremendously help with building loyalty back for Capcom. They are doing things that usually only smaller/indie developers do as far as connecting with the players and catering to competitive gamers.

There are some hiccups with the game possibly not having spectator mode for lobbies at launch and no real robust story mode until summer, but I personally do prefer Capcom's approach of making sure we get solid netcode and gameplay first. People should have a good time when they go online and play the game and the game should be solid enough balance wise out the gate that it's as playable as possible. Playability should be as strong as possible at launch because for me, a fighting game is about playing and going head to head with a buddy first. I will always choose games like SFV or KI over MKX due to this. Not big on flash and story that sells at the expense of playability.

Granted I will commend NRS for stepping their shit up and giving people the good netcode they've been looking for.

As far as a competitive eSport goes SFV will obviously shine the best here. It's going to have the most entrants at every tournament even surpassing MKX. Which means that even if MKX makes more product money than it does, SFV will still be the front line tournament game that people enter in the droves to compete and watch. The online being much better over longer and shorter distances than SFIV's means online will be a big factor which is HUGE. That person in Wisconsin or Utah with no scene near them can grind up and get good in online tournaments then bring his skills to a popular major and get huge twitch views. Better yet even get famous purely online through large scale streamed online events with big prize pots. Which then qualify him/her later for more offline stuff.

I definitely see 2016's SFV entrants surpassing 2015's SFIV entrants at Evo and other majors and the bigger focus on eSports will just put things on a higher pedestal. The near equal importance of online play to offline play will get SFV more in line with PC eSports that thrive on heavy online eSport events. Allowing people to always be regularly competing in something huge rather than only month to month if you're sponsored or much less if you're not swimming in money. The only other exception being having a great career with time to spare.

SFV most likely still won't touch stuff like MOBAs and certain FPS' as the lack of a team aspect i think holds it back from being a game that's easier to piggy back on. Hopefully it ends up like the Tennis of eSports where everyone just really gets into a sport where they can see one mind vs the other mind and just the raw visuals of someone beating up someone else.

Multi Pad Hack Questions.

Just wanted to ask somethings about pad hacking an Xb1 and DS4 control for a fight stick. Basically I would like a link to a tutorial or thread I may have missed, that shows how to have the two separate PCBs connected with a switch to pick between the two.

You can continue to read the rest if you want. Its just a crappy worded overly convoluted brain puke of junk I was thinking and typing. I apologize to anybody who bothers with it.

1.) Would it be best to wire them up separately and have their USB connections fitted to a switch, which could then flipped to the PCB I need. Or to have two separate cables.
Having them select-able will keep it neater with the single USB cable leaving the fight stick. But it will mean there is an extra switch inline which will add to the resistance thus making the lag of the stick higher. Is the lag a switch adds anything to even be bothered with in high level competitive play.

2.) To add a switch to the set up. Would I wire them up independently, attach both to the buttons and whatnot of the fight stick. And then have a short USB cable for each PCB attached to the switch. So in essence when I'm switching, its changing between the entire PCB. I ask this because I have seen some people wire the separate PCBs together and the switch is just used to send the power source to the desired PCB.

3.) On the fight stick there is an Xbox button. will I need to wire this to the Xb1 PCB Xbox button and the PS4 PCB PS button. And how will that button be connected to the switch. I assume when I press the button on the fight stick it will activate both. Even the one I don't intend using at that time. As I typed that question I think I realized that the one I don't intend using wont be getting power since the switch to select between the PCBs wont be activating it. Yet I'm still confused since I have seen the pictures of the two PCBs wired together. And I feel researching things to much just screws me over.

FAQ
Spoiler:
1. What is the Hit Box?

The Hit Box all-button controller, AKA the "Stickless Stick," is a game controller specifically designed for fighting games. We replaced the joystick with directional buttons that are controlled by your fingers.

2. Why buttons?

By using 4 directional buttons controlled by 4 fingers, you gain:

- Increased input speed
- Consistent inputs yield fewer mistakes
- Exclusive control over your movement
- No travel time inputting directions
- Button techniques apply to movement and special inputs (plinking, piano, double tap, slide)
- Game-specific features such as SSFIV input shortcuts (such as walking dragon punches)
- No unintentional inputs such as accidental jumps
- No arm/wrist motion
- Stays put in your lap

3. Are those smaller buttons than normal?

Yes. We use 24mm Sanwa pushbuttons with exception to the 'Up' button, which is 30mm. They are highly sensitive buttons and work perfectly. 24 mm buttons are able to be brought closer together and fit the natural curve of the human hand. When the button spread is closer together, players find all buttons directly at their finger tips with no hand-hovering.

4. Can I still execute throws and focus attacks on this smaller layout?

Yes.

5. What about plinking and double tapping my combo links?

Of course.

6. Why have a shared jump button for your thumbs?

It is larger than the other buttons so both thumbs can access "Up" depending on player preference. By utilizing this, you can perform advanced "joystick" motions easily. Tri-jumps and Tiger Knee inputs are much faster and more accurate. It also makes many Just-Frame inputs incredibly easy.

8. Who is this for? Do I need keyboard experience?

While it appears to share the most common ground with a keyboard, Hit Box is a balance between Joystick, Pad, and Keyboard together. You dont need background in any controller to appreciate the Hit Box: Anyone can use it!

9. Can I still do everything I can do on my joystick?

Everything and more.

10. What about Hadokens and Dragon Punches and SPDs?

Yes. Quickly and accurately.

11. What about "______'s ________ combo"?

Yes.

12. Is there a learning curve?

The learning curve is creating fast, new memory in your fingers. It doesn't take long. This also gets rid of old bad habits too!

13. Are these for advanced players only?

No! The benefits of these boxes can be appreciated by everyone from the beginning player to the most advanced tournament player. The whole purpose of the Hit Box is to aide your fundamentals and build your foundation so that you can focus on what actually matters in a match: your opponent.

14. What happens when you hold the Left and Right buttons together?

Left + Right = Neutral. Your character will stand still. No charging or blocking occurs.

15. Can I hold Left and Right to block cross ups?

No. Left + Right = Neutral; you will get hit in the face.

18. Can I walk forward and charge a sonic boom?

No.

19. Can I hold Back and perform shoryuken motions?

No. Left + Right = Neutral.

20. Is "Left + Right = Neutral" useless?

No! Left + Right is the basis for many advanced techniques that will make your life easier! You get access to 3-frame dashes, 1-button FADCs, rapid dragon punches, new option selects, safe and easy Korean backdash cancelling, and much more! Left + Right will help your execution significantly. Check out all of the tech in our video section!

Television General Discussion - Joe West Top TV Dad?

If a thread like this exists already please point me to it - a forum search yielded nothing.

Thread is mainly to discuss shows that probably aren't popular enough to have their own thread - at least right now.

Ground Rules
  • Keep spoilers to a minimum - try to be considerate, this is general discussion. No spoilers for future episodes though.
  • If a show already has it's own thread, talk about it there (Dexter, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, etc)
  • If a show is taking up too much of the thread, create a thread just for that show.

Having made her first and only appearance (until now) in Street Fighter Alpha 3, R. Mika has long been a fan-favorite and we’re super stoked to bring her back after a long absence from the series. As a flamboyant young wrestler, Mika dreamed of one day becoming a star in the ring, much like her idol Zangief. Training under the strict tutelage of her coach, she traveled the world engaging in random matches with street fighters in order to spread her name and popularity.

R. Mika’s wrestling prowess will be on full display in Street Fighter V, as she dazzles opponents with a large variety of high-flying moves. This time around, her wrestling tag-team partner Nadeshiko also assists in the fight!

By calling Nadeshiko at the right time using R. Mika’s V-Trigger ability, you’ll be able to setup sneaky attacks and punishing command grab mix-ups that are sure to knock the stuffing out of your opponent. Players who enjoy close-combat guessing games and striking fear into the hearts of opponents will find R. Mika an absolute delight to play.

R. Mika pulls out her trusty microphone and gives a heart-pumping monologue to the crowd. The longer the buttons are held down, the more powerful her normal and special throws become! During her monologue state, she is able to absorb one hit from the opponent and can also cancel the speech at any time by letting go of the buttons, causing her to fling the mic at the opponent.

V-Trigger: Nadeshiko (3 Variations)

Now this is wrestling! Depending on the direction held during the V-Trigger activation, R. Mika’s faithful tag-team partner will deliver a surprising, high flying attack at the opponent from different angles: neutral (body splash from above), hold back (dropkick from the front), hold forward (dropkick from behind). The different variations keep opponents guessing and afraid to hit buttons, perfectly setting up R. Mika’s damaging command throws.

Fans lucky enough to be attending PAX Prime this weekend in Seattle will have a chance to try out R. Mika at the Capcom booth, so be sure to swing by to see how she plays!

MOD EDIT:
Credit to General_Awesomo for the combo list below !

I've compiled a HUGE list of combos for Vega. In this list, there are all sorts of categories. Enjoy.

Meterless empty jump combo:
c.LK, c.LP xx LK CT
127 dmg / 229 stun

BNBS

Meterless bnb
claw s.HP xx SC, s.LK, BH c.MP xx MK CT

Most damaging 1 bar combo:
s.HK, Matador Blitz xx EX FBA, Izuna Drop

Replace Izuna Drop with the slash and juggle afterwards with V-Trigger for:
364 dmg / 424 stun
399 dmg / 521 stun with a jump-in

While this is amazing damage, you have to keep one thing in mind. S.HK whiffs on crouchers. Only use these combos when they whiff something big to ensure they're standing.

Ok last round you muthafucca went Forum Platinum... I need triple platinum. So here is your advance on posting:

1)Discuss rap news, album reviews, etc. all on this thread. BASICALLY EVERYTHING DEALING WITH THE GENRE OF HIP HOP

2)No more of this some crew vs. some crew shit either.

3)No posting links to any file downloads. Use AIM or PM's in order to communicate that.

4)DO NOT POST THE WHOLE ARTICLES. Post the link to the article.

5)Hold respectable argument. Do not flame someone cause they like a particular group. State your disagreement.

6) New comers.... Please understand MAJORITY of the older members know a significant amount of knowledge or may have discussed a particular topic. Try to go 'with the flow' as discussing the topic at hand. Trust me, this topics change constantly.

7) New comers pt. 2. Please do not come into the thread asking who listens to a particular artist or what you think is the greatest. It will get you no where. watch the thread. We not only have musicians/industry insiders/album reviewers but people who listen to a BROAD range of music in rap (underground, midwest, west coast, east coast, down south, international) .

Use your fucking heads.

Got the go ahead from dev that we could start character threads for the dlc characters,

So now that we know urien is returning, how would you like him to play? I would like him to be more of a juggle centric character , if they can retain his aegis somehow I'd be in heaven.

I'll update this thread with any news and vids regarding urien when they are made available.

I apologize if there is already a thread but I didn't see one and Ryu definitely needs one. Ryu seems really strong which is wonderful.

Use this thread to discuss him.

Seems like the parry window is pretty small and its not always easy to follow up which sucks but it is what it is.

On 18 January, 2012, The CW greenlit the pilot for a proposed Green Arrow series with Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg producing. The series, Arrow, will offer a fresh take on the character. Smallville's Justin Hartley will not be involved in the new project.

In Arrow, Oliver Queen will be in his late twenties. Dinah Laurel Lance will also be a featured character, though not as the Black Canary and using her middle name "Laurel." Oliver Queen's mother Moira is still alive in the present day, with Oliver Queen returning to "Starling City" after people believed he was dead for five years.
Moving at a seemingly rapid pace, the CW's "Green Arrow" television series, "Arrow", has cast its lead. Deadline reports that Stephen Amell has landed the Oliver Queen role, officially described in the casting sides as follows:

A 27 year old reformed bad boy, who after having spent five years shipwrecked on a tiny, brutally dangerous island in the South China Sea returns to town a different man. Or to be more specific, a tortured, thoughtful master of the bow with a ferocious determination to make a difference.

No stranger to television, Amell has appeared recently on television shows like "Hung", "90210" and "The Vampire Diaries".

Dating all the way back to 1941 when he made his first appearance in "More Fun Comics" #73, the comic book iteration of Queen is a billionaire who leads a double life as expert archer and costumed hero Green Arrow. Over the years, Queen has been a member of the Justice League and even Mayor of his hometown, Star City.

I'm surprised yet pleased that Green Arrow will be a spiritual successor to Smallville..............although I was hoping it would be Eric Kripke's adaption of Deadman.

Welp since d3v said it was okay to make threads regarding DLC characters i am making this one for juri.

In SF 4 juri is amazingly fun to use IMO. Interested to see how she will change in SF 5, haven't gotten to play it myself yet but definitely plan to get it once urien and juri are out. What are your thoughts so far?

EDIT: thanks to Johnson Carl 96 for title

with the new network system in sf5 everyone can see now all your matches and stats
which in itself is a interesting feature but i find it strange that its forced upon everyone.

maybe not everyone is fine with being so open and would prefer to keep this things private
for different reasons which i for myself think should be respected.

a option to enable all these stats just to friends or no one would be something that i would welcome.

feel free to discuss-
