original sanwa obsf30 Vs generic non sanwa buttons

Hey there..

I wanted to know the difference between the original obsf 30s and the "generic" or knock off ones that can be boght from china for a much, much cheaper price..
I am not an idiot, i know they are way inferior, the only specific thing i know though is that the originals have a "solid" feel when pressed as opposed to a more " hollow" feel on the knock offs..i have the knock offs and i can confirm that, i wouldn't know about the orignal feel though cause i never had one..

The reason i am asking is that I am trying to support my hobby of building sticks (started 3 years ago with the help of you guys) in a very harsh environement, where i am litterally the only one (to my knowledge) in my country doing it (Egypt),so there is absolutely no local supply outlet, and between our failing currency with its horrible exchange rates, and the blatant high way robbery that is our customs rates, importing is EXTREMELY expensive and overpriced..

I guess what i am asking is , does it worth paying litterally 15x more (i am not even exaggerating) for the original ones when bought and shipped from the US, or are the chinese ones "good enough" considering the circumstances?

Ultra Street Fighter 4 General

Just announced. Get hype.

Ultra Street Fighter 4 will include 5 new characters (4 of which are ported from Street Fighter x Tekken: Rolento, Elena, Poison, and Hugo. The 5th is current unknown but is said to have never been in a street fighter game before. NOTE IT IS NOT ASURA OR BBA MEGAMAN

It will include 6 additional stages said to be Pitstop 109, Mad Gear Hideout, Cosmic Elevator, Blast Furnace, Half Pipe, and Jurassic Era Research Facility. All from SFxT.

A complete rebalance to the entire cast based off of fan suggestions

It will cost 15$ for a digital version which you can upgrade from EITHER Super or Arcade Edition for the same price. The full retail version will cost $40 and include all of the DLC costumes at no extra charge. The game will be released on PS3/Xbox360/PC early 2014. Capcom is hoping for a simultaneous release on all 3 platforms or to at very much keep the PC closer to the PS3/Xbox360 release date than ever before. Pre-ordering will get you special pre-order exclusive costumes designed by Udon for the 5 new characters.

There will be location tests and special events in both Japan and USA for players to play early builds and give feedback that may impact the balance changes before they become final.

NOTE: USF4 may in fact use Steamworks instead of GFWL!

PS360+ Compatibility
ps360-pcb.jpg

This is a statement from the manufacturer that I received about general AkiShop PS360+ Compatibility:

Dear Jon,

Appreciate your kind feedback.
The ps360+ could be compatible on X360 to PS4 converter.
The ps360+ is developed based on PC mode. Its PS3 communication is not formal PS3 communication.
Thus, if your controller is X360 controller and connected to ps360+, our X360 to PS4 converter could be workable.
If your controller is PS3 controller and connected to ps360+, our X360 to PS4 converter can’t be workable.
Hope you kindly understand above and feel free contact me if you have any further issue.
Thanks.

FAQ
Spoiler:
1. What is the Hit Box?

The Hit Box all-button controller, AKA the "Stickless Stick," is a game controller specifically designed for fighting games. We replaced the joystick with directional buttons that are controlled by your fingers.

2. Why buttons?

By using 4 directional buttons controlled by 4 fingers, you gain:

- Increased input speed
- Consistent inputs yield fewer mistakes
- Exclusive control over your movement
- No travel time inputting directions
- Button techniques apply to movement and special inputs (plinking, piano, double tap, slide)
- Game-specific features such as SSFIV input shortcuts (such as walking dragon punches)
- No unintentional inputs such as accidental jumps
- No arm/wrist motion
- Stays put in your lap

3. Are those smaller buttons than normal?

Yes. We use 24mm Sanwa pushbuttons with exception to the 'Up' button, which is 30mm. They are highly sensitive buttons and work perfectly. 24 mm buttons are able to be brought closer together and fit the natural curve of the human hand. When the button spread is closer together, players find all buttons directly at their finger tips with no hand-hovering.

4. Can I still execute throws and focus attacks on this smaller layout?

Yes.

5. What about plinking and double tapping my combo links?

Of course.

6. Why have a shared jump button for your thumbs?

It is larger than the other buttons so both thumbs can access "Up" depending on player preference. By utilizing this, you can perform advanced "joystick" motions easily. Tri-jumps and Tiger Knee inputs are much faster and more accurate. It also makes many Just-Frame inputs incredibly easy.

8. Who is this for? Do I need keyboard experience?

While it appears to share the most common ground with a keyboard, Hit Box is a balance between Joystick, Pad, and Keyboard together. You dont need background in any controller to appreciate the Hit Box: Anyone can use it!

9. Can I still do everything I can do on my joystick?

Everything and more.

10. What about Hadokens and Dragon Punches and SPDs?

Yes. Quickly and accurately.

11. What about "______'s ________ combo"?

Yes.

12. Is there a learning curve?

The learning curve is creating fast, new memory in your fingers. It doesn't take long. This also gets rid of old bad habits too!

13. Are these for advanced players only?

No! The benefits of these boxes can be appreciated by everyone from the beginning player to the most advanced tournament player. The whole purpose of the Hit Box is to aide your fundamentals and build your foundation so that you can focus on what actually matters in a match: your opponent.

14. What happens when you hold the Left and Right buttons together?

Left + Right = Neutral. Your character will stand still. No charging or blocking occurs.

15. Can I hold Left and Right to block cross ups?

No. Left + Right = Neutral; you will get hit in the face.

18. Can I walk forward and charge a sonic boom?

No.

19. Can I hold Back and perform shoryuken motions?

No. Left + Right = Neutral.

20. Is "Left + Right = Neutral" useless?

No! Left + Right is the basis for many advanced techniques that will make your life easier! You get access to 3-frame dashes, 1-button FADCs, rapid dragon punches, new option selects, safe and easy Korean backdash cancelling, and much more! Left + Right will help your execution significantly. Check out all of the tech in our video section!

The PC gaming Thread. Steam/GOG/Origin/Etc. Game talk

So I recently got a gaming pc and im loving steam lately. Ive been playing a lot of Portal 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Borderlands. Ive only had my pc for about 3 months but due to the awsomeness that is Steam I have picked up about 20 or 25 games since then. The only problem I have is I dont have any motherfuckin' friends to play that shit with. It gets lonely by yourself.

So if you play shit on Steam post in here, talk about games you're playing, rant about games you're playing, post them deals and just make some friends for that shit. Good times!

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/19/super-street-fighter-4-arcade-edition-coming-to-steam/

Steam deal right now is Worms Reloaded for 9.99. Im not into that so its not something im interested in but someone else might be.

Edit - Oh yeah, my Steam I.D. is...you guessed it, Drizzt519.

p.s. if there is a thread like this im sorry. I did a search and looked through like 5 pages but didnt find nothing but the TF2 thread. And most of them motherfuckers that post in that thread aint ever playing that shit.

Wallbase. Largest collection of the slickest, coolest wallpapers on the internet, imo. These are great for computers, laptops, and of course, your PS3.
Spoiler:
HDD Expansion
Ran out of space on the stock hard drive in your PS3? Want to upgrade? Western Digital is the highest quality HDD brand you can get for your PS3, imo. As of now, they don't have a 1TB HDD of the PS3's 2.5" HDD size, so 750GB is the highest you can get now, which should already be more than enough.

While WD is my brand of choice, any 2.5" SATA HDD is compatible with the PS3. Even Solid State Drives (SSDs) and Hybrid Drives are compatible with the PS3, and Drives of any cache size and RPMs are compatible with the PS3, so there are a lot of choices out there. People have claimed to experience notable gains/advantages with Drives with higher RPMs, as well as using SSDs over HDDs, so you may want to keep that info in mind.

Do note, however, that a lot of people have had problems with the Seagate brand of HDDs. Buy at your own risk.

Side Note: Newegg is an amazing website for ordering these things. I don't think they charge shipping for these HDDs (they didn't charge me shipping), and they were FAST. My credit card info was authorized and the 750GB HDD I ordered was at my house a day and a half later. So yeah, I give Newegg my highest recommendations. For those of you late bloomers looking to jump into the HD age, they've also got great HDTVs at great prices, so check them out!

How do you replace your old HDD with the new one you bought?

First off, you will need a regular Phillips Screwdriver to do this.

MAINTENANCE
Want your Triple to last long? Up your maintenance game.
Spoiler:
Intercoolers
If you feel that your PS3 is usually stationed in an environment with inadequate temperature (Read: Hot and muggy as fuck), you may want to look into and invest in an Intercooler to keep it nice and cool. Also, remember that setting your PS3 vertically is better than horizontally if you're looking to keep it well-ventilated.
Spoiler:
Cleaning the PS3
Cleaning your PS3 is very simple.

For the outside of your PS3, rub dust/fingerprints/whatever off with micro-fiber cloth.

For the inside of your PS3, use a vacuum cleaner's hose to suck dust from the vents. Don't forget to open the PS3's HDD plating and vacuum there as well. Every once in a while, it will be necessary to completely remove the HDD and vacuum out it's housing area. You can also blow the dust through the vents using compressed air. I find cleaning most effective when the compressed air is used first, then the vacuum to suck out any remaining dust. Clean your PS3 out at least once a month.

DO NOT. I repeat, DO NOT attempt the PS3's hidden feature, the Fan Test. This hidden feature has been known to damage PS3s and shorten their lifespans. You have been warned.
Spoiler:
Repairs
Gophermods, LLC. This company is excellent for console repairs, among other things. Not to mention they're cheaper than other repair stores, including official Sony repair stations. They repair your console and return it to you in record time, and their work leaves little, if nothing else to be desired. Very professional group.

MEDIA SERVERS

Media Servers are great for boosting your PS3's capabilities as a media center powerhouse. Below is a list of good media server programs you can install on your computer or laptop to use for streaming media to your PS3.

GAMES
Last, but not least, the recommended games list. The list includes both exclusive and multiplatform games (Exclusives are marked with EXCLUSIVE tags. semi-EXCLUSIVE means that there is also a version of the game either on some phone device or PC). Let me know if I'm missing some games. Especially in the 'Games on the Horizon' section. I'm not bothering with Move, EyeToy, or Mini games.

Q&A
  • Q: Are all PS3's backwards-compatible?
A: Not exactly. All PS3s backwards-compatible with PS1 games. The discontinued 60GB Phat PS3 is backwards compatible with PS2 games as well. Some special edition 80GB Phat PS3s (Like the Metal Gear Solid 4 80GB) are also backwards compatible with PS2 games. No Slim PS3s are backwards-compatible with PS2 games.
  • Q: When my PlayStation+ subscription expires, do I lose all of the games I purchased while under subscription?
A: No. You only lose the games you got for free.
  • Q: When my PlayStation+ subscription expires, are my cloud saves stored on Sony's servers forever?
A: No. Your saves are stored for 6 months after your PS+ subscription expires. After 6 months the files are deleted from Sony's servers and forever lost to you.

ULTRA STREET FIGHTER 4 VIDEO THREAD

Would SFV be better to play on PS4 or PC and why.

$
0
0
I wasn't quite sure which section to bring this thread to since it has to do with Street Fighter as well as tech, so I just brought it here.

Something I've been wanting to discuss with people is the issue regarding PS3 fightsticks not being compatible with the SFV beta. When the game officially releases, PS3 fightsticks may or may not be compatible with the game, so everyone is still waiting for more info on that. The thing is, I might be getting a PS4 in the next few days, and I would pre-order SFV for beta access. However, I don't have a fightstick for a PS4, nor do I see myself being able to buy one for a very long time. So if I obtained beta access for PS4, I would have to use a regular controller, and if PS3 fightsticks aren't compatible for the final release, I'd be screwed. However, I do have a PC that can handle gaming very well, so if I bought SFV on the PC instead I'd be able to use my current fightstick for it since it's compatible with PS3/PC/Xbox 360. I'd like everyone to discuss what someone like me should do in this situation, and whether it would be better to play SFV on the PS4 or PC.

Ah, another thing to note is the community on each platform. PS4 will undoubtedly have many more players than on PC, but perhaps that won't matter too much since cross-play is now a thing for this franchise. I'm just wondering how different the PC experience would be vs the PS4 experience.

And I also just realized if I ever go to a local or tournament, I'd need a PS4 compatible fightstick. Fml.

Can we talk about the character redesigns?

$
0
0
I remember some people, mainly me, were talking about how characters "getting older" and changing could be a good thing for SFV to differenciate the game from SFIV and signal a leap. It seems it is being the case here, since practically all the roster is being redesigned with new costumes, appearance changes and new gameplay elements.

It's interesting to see they went "safe" with the first announcement, since Chun-Li and Ryu's appearances were the same, but these "new costumes" they announced for them I think are supposed to represent their "new looks" just like what they did with the rest of the roster.

IMO:
Favorite changes
Bison (nice change on his design and it fits him)
R. Mika (I always thought her design was too kooky, the removal of the boob hearts was a step in the right direction)

Least favorites
Vega (I think Vega's original design was simply perfect, the shirt covers his great muscles and cool tattoo, and I don't think that was necessary)
Nash (Frankenstein, that's ridiculous)
Ken (I personally prefer him to be in uniform with Ryu, and the new costume isn't good at all IMO)

Mixed thoughts
Birdie (being fat does fit him, but it makes him a little too goofy and much of a stereotype)
Karin (I like that they're moving away from the schoolgirl cliché but her new costume doesn't look iconic and a little too clunky, I liked the dynamism of her original outfit)

The classic designs are most likely to return as DLC costumes, and that would be very good, but who knows, remember Cammy never got her Alpha costume in Street Fighter IV...

As for gameplay changes:
Favorite changes
Vega (I think it's a great sign they're taking risks with this, and also other characters like Rolento had shown this "leap on the wall" gameplay can work without being a charge character)
Nash (they finally made him different to Guile and I think it looks really cool)
Birdie (it looks very effective and that's a nice change for a character whose gameplay never worked very great)
Ken (looks cool and completely different to Ryu, that's good)

Mixed thoughts
R. Mika (it makes her more dynamic but the Nadeshiko thing is a bit gimmicky and OP, and I really miss the leg scissor grapple and the extra butt attack)

Least favorite
Bison (he has had changes in previous episodes, but this one is one of my least favorite incarnations)

How Gamers Get Down With YouPron

"There’s some strong bodily fluid love going on among Xbox users as well, with terms like ‘squirting orgasm’ (172%), ‘creampie gangbang’ (168%), ‘lesbian squirt’ (140%), and ‘teen creampie’ (134%) more likely to be searched on this platform than any other console. They reaffirm their love for bigger babes with the likeliness of ‘chubby teen’ being searched for 110% more than on Playstations or Wiis. Playstation users keep it relatively simple here, but again prove their love for the older ladies with terms like ‘mom’, ‘mature’ and ‘milf’ all being searched for significantly more on the platform. Wii users again keep it fantastical with terms like ‘zelda’ being searched for an astonishing 1082% more and others like ‘pokemon’ (591%), ‘hentai shemale’ (338%), ‘cartoon play’ (296%) and ‘cosplay’ (147%) all being searched for more than on other consoles. Let’s take a look gender demographic breakdowns among our different groups of gamers."

^ I'd link to where this quote came from, but I don't want to link directly to YouPron.

Welcome to the official (!) thread of Rocket League.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, it's essentially 1v1-4v4 soccer with a giant ball and RC cars.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocket_League

And as of this writing, it's free with Playstation Plus on PS4. RL is also available on Steam.

Here's a match I played with Joezorz

Paradise Arcade Shop, LED Joysticks, Buttons, Mods and more

We have been floating around for a little while posting and received a recommendation to start a thread. Paradise Arcade Shop is based in Hawaii, working to bring a variety of controls to the arcade and fight stick market. We carry a number of different options for price points in both sticks and buttons, but we only sell products that we would use. That means, there is a difference between a Porsche and a Toyota, we see a place for both of those in the market, and we won't sell Toyota's at Porsche prices.

I say "we" as Ponyboy likes to harass me about, because the company is my wife and I. For those of you who have ordered already(thank you) she packs the orders and answers about 90% of the emails (mostly logisitics, but she is answering the "How to I light an LED" questions now) This is also her full time job and my part time job. She works hard to send out all stock items in 1-2 days, and rides my ass about the cutsom builds so they stay close to 1-3 days(We build LED sticks to order, and some of our game systems)

I have been an active membe of KLOV, Coinopspace, and BYOAC for sometime, and we sell on EBAY and Amazon. I will probably edit the intro down in the future, but I wanted just let people know who "we" are and who I am. Thank you for all the support and orders we already have received and now...it's time for the good stuff!

Mortal Kombat 9 Stick mod products!!!!! If you want new controls with the same forms to just upgrade your stick try some of these IL products and microswitch upgrades.

Translucent Concave IL buttons - A great upgrade to your stick, especially with...

IL-lumination LED pads - Available in RGB or single color

IL Eurosticks provide "Happ Competition" Style with an upgrade in quality

And, for amazing light touch, upgrade any Happ or IL button to our 20 gram micros (Please note that these are 20 gram max spec and really are closer to 15 grams of actuation force)

We also carry JLF's, JLW's, LS-32, LS-32-01, LS-40, PS-14-KN pushbuttons, re-released PS-14-K Skeleton buttons, Paradise LED sticks, custom ball tops and a variety of hollow shafts(we also have 10 new custom hollow shafts on order, need a long JLF shaft or want to put a ball top on a Eurostick joystick?)

Finally... we have two new ball tops in, Pearls and Emerald Green that will be available shortly and were built to match the Rollie Buttons.

And the answer is "Yes, the pearl will light up."
